Always wear goggles and a lab
apron to provide protection to
your eyes and clothing.

Tie back loose clothing and hair.
Do not heat glassware that is
broken, chipped, or cracked.
Always use a test tube holder
when holding a test tube. Never
point the opening of a test tube
that you are heating toward
yourself or others.

Note the distance between the flame and the clamp!
Do not touch any chemicals. If
you get a chemical on your skin
or clothing, wash it off at the
sink while calling your teacher.

CuSO4 is poisonous!
Limewater (Ca(OH)2 causes
burns. Avoid skin contact.
When bubbling a gas through
liquid, be sure to remove the
liquid before you remove the
heat source
6M HCl is VERY corrosive.
Do not spill on your hands.
If you have any questions about
anything- ASK YOUR

procedure tips that come up
during the lab.

SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
Crucibles are fragile and can
break easily. Be sure to heat
slowly.
Move and mass crucibles only
when cool. Use proper crucible
tongs to move crucibles.
