FAMILY PERSPECTIVE
Today’s gospel challenges us to be a “light” to our
community. Parents shine their own guiding light by
their actions, inviting their children to follow the light
of their “good deeds.”

STEWARDSHIP BY THE BOOK
ST. JOSEPH ALTAR
In the first reading, Isaiah urges us in the name of the
Lord to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, and
clothe the naked. If we do so, he assures us, the Lord
will hear and answer our cries for help in time of need.
The Sanctuary Candle will burn this week in memory of
Alex Clemente from Sil Danowski & Family.
The Candle will burn this week in Thanksgiving and
Prayers from a Parishioner.
MARRIAGE MOMENTS
Overlook a little, love a lot. To motivate yourself, you
need to let go of the trivial. Ponder for one minute the
possibility that your spouse might die next week. We can
never be certain about the future.
SECOND COLLECTION Thank you to everyone
who donated to the second collection last weekend for
the Msgr. Connelly Education Endowment Fund.
The total collected was $1,333; this fund is a gift that
lives on for future generations.
THIS LITTLE LIGHT OF MINE
As children we sang the lively song This Little Light of Mine. The words, of course, are based on
today’s Gospel, in which we are called as disciples to be salt and light for the world. Children are uninhibited about sharing their faith. It’s only when we grow older that we prefer to hide our light under a
bushel basket because our culture tends not to emphasize discipleship. The message in this week’s readings is clear: in order to give glory to God through our discipleship, we must show the light of Christ in
our words and deeds. Not an easy thing for inhibited adults. Often we may think of salt and light in terms of what we
do for others, but it can be just as important not to do something, such as getting angry with the stranger on the road, or
telling an offensive joke. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

Members of the 31 Club agree to go to daily Mass
and /or offer prayers on a particular day every month for
an increase of vocations to the Church. One of the best
ways to increase vocations is through prayers, and the
greatest prayer we have is the holy sacrifice of the Mass.
Please call the Parish Office if you want to be in the
31 Club and experience the satisfaction that comes from
helping to fulfill a great need in the Church.

QUOTES FROM MOTHER TERESA
“Everybody today seems to be in such
a terrible rush, anxious for greater
developments and greater riches and
so on, so that children have very little
time for their parents. Parents have
very little time for each other, and in
the home begins the disruption of
peace of the world.”
PLEASE….If you are moving or changing your phone
number or email address, please let us know! You can
send us a note, call the Parish Office, email us or drop a
note in the collection basket. To our “snow birds”
please let us know when you are leaving and let us
know when you return; if you would like your mail sent
to your winter home, please let us know that as well. If
you are going into a assisted living facility, a nursing
home or in hospice, PLEASE let us know so we can
visit and bring you communion. We depend on you to
help us keep our records current. Thanks for your
help...any questions call Diane in the Parish Office at
454-0171.

CHILDREN’S STEWARDSHIP CORNER
During the past week some of our
children noted on their Church envelopes some ways they shared their time
and talents. We thank them for being
true stewards of God’s Kingdom
through sharing and service by using their Church
envelopes. “I let my sister use my face wash, helping my brother, I spent more time with my family,
unloaded the dishwasher, helping my parents with
laundry, cleaning my room, I said sorry to my sister, I helped my papa.” Please encourage your child
(ren) to write on their envelopes ways in which
they shared their time and talent during the week.
It is uplifting to read what they share...we can all
learn something from them!
