Dog Show Exhibit and Celebration of
Man’s Best Friend Opens Saturday, August 6th
Dog Show, an afternoon celebration and art exhibit devoted to Man’s Best Friend, opens
Saturday, August 6th at the Carl Cherry Center for the Arts. Beginning at 11 a.m., the Dog Show
will include The Constantly Risking Absurdity Dog Contest, (including Best Trick, Pet Owner
Look-a-like, Best Kiss and Most Obstinate, among others..) Dog Show Art Exhibit, Doggie
Photo Shoot, Hot Dogs and Refreshments, and Special Awards, including a $250 Grand Prize to
the winner of the juried art competition! Pet owners are encouraged to bring their pooches and
join the celebration.
For the juried art competition-- $250 for Best of Show and special awards will be presented.
Artists working in a range of mediums and forms--from humorous to whimsical and sentimental-have their work represented in the exhibit, which can be seen through September 9th.
$5 entry fee. For more information call 624-7491. The Carl Cherry Center for the Arts is
located at the corners of 4th and Guadalupe, Carmel.
Established in 1948 by the pioneering modernist poet and painter Jeanne D’Orge, (Mrs.
Carl Cherry, 1879-1964) the Carl Cherry Center for the Art’s artistic purpose is to present
arts and theater that are timely, engaging and attempt to cast light on contemporary
issues, both aesthetic and intellectual.
