2013 Paul Revere Chapter 2nd Quarter Newsletter FINAL

Paul Revere Chapter-#178
2nd Quarter Newsletter
April through June 2013
www.paulrevereafa.org
Dear Paul Revere Chapter Members, Friends and Supporters:
Our AFA activities have kept us busy right from the very start of April, with our chapter
supporting and attending an Astronaut and Space day on April 6th , Community Partners’
Reception on the 17th to completing another successful Chief of Staff Scholarship Dinner and Golf
outing on 29 and 30 May.
On June 17th, we received excellent, excellent news that we have won the 2013 National AFA Unit
of the Year Award! What great news for a deserving team of dedicated and passionate team
members. From my officer staff, to the vice presidents of programs, to the many chapter members
and volunteers, who work our many events….you won the Gold!!
We held our monthly meeting for June on the 20th and our active team continues to work diligently
planning out the remaining of the year, with a summer barbecue for our Veterans on 30 July
(Lowell Care Center, Lowell, MA); Vettes to Vets on 29 September and right now, you all can
register for our 4th Annual AFA Veterans Fun Run, on 9 November.
The care, advocating for airpower and our service to our AFA community never stops! We truly
have an outstanding team and we are excited at the opportunities to add to our active ranks and to
continue our service.
There are many opportunities to serve and assist in our over 927 member chapter. During our June
meeting, it is with bittersweet emotions that we prepare to say good-bye to our Veterans Affairs
Vice President, Richard Codling. Dick is moving permanently to Florida, with his lovely wife,
Helen. This great man has worked many, many Veterans events and he has lived out the AFA
passion for troops every moment we have shared. There is much to do and help with in Veterans
Affairs, as Dick prepares to move south after this year’s Vettes to Vets event.
In this newsletter edition, you will find 7 additional pages of exciting news and information. You
will find information on National Awards; the Chief of Staff Scholarship dinner; Community
Partners; Education; 4th Annual AFA Fun Run; Membership and Draft Minutes from the June 22nd
New England Region lunch with AFA President-Craig McKinley.
We hope you enjoy this newsletter and we look forward to seeing you and working with you at
several of the events coming up. It continues to be a privilege to lead this dynamic chapter and to
serve with you.
Hands in; Let’s Move Out!
