Happy Fathers Day!
Hear, O sons, a father's instruction, and be attentive, that you may gain insight,
for I give you good precepts; do not forsake my teaching. When I was a son with my
father, tender, the only one in the sight of my mother, he taught me and said to me,
“Let your heart hold fast my words; keep my commandments, and live.

Galatians 5:1, 13-25 For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke
of slavery. For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but

if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another. But I say, walk by the Spirit,

VERSE: Alleluia. When the day drew near for him to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem. Alleluia.
Luke 9:51-62 When the days drew near for him to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem. And he sent messengers ahead of him, who went and entered a village of the Samaritans, to make preparations for him. But the people did
not receive him, because his face was set toward Jerusalem. And when his disciples James and John saw it, they said, “Lord,
do you want us to tell fire to come down from heaven and consume them?” But he turned and rebuked them. And they
went on to another village. As they were going along the road, someone said to him, “I will follow you wherever you
go.” And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his
head.” To another he said, “Follow me.” But he said, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” And Jesus said to
him, “Leave the dead to bury their own dead. But as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God. "Yet another said, “I
will follow you, Lord, but let me first say farewell to those at my home.” Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to
the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”

What about Holy Communion?
We understand Communion to be more than just a
symbol or a statement--it is a “means of grace.” Like
the Bible, it proclaims the fearful cost of our salvation,
the depth of our Savior’s love, and the perfect trust we
can have because of Jesus’ death and resurrection. It is
an intimate moment where God himself is with us,
bringing us together, and blessing us. It should never be
taken lightly. So, the Bible tells us: “A person ought to
examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink
of the cup.” (I Corinthians 11:28).
If you are unsure about Holy Communion, please come forward and simply fold your arms across your chest as a signal
to Pastor that you would like to receive a blessing.

IT HAPPENED THIS WEEK
Basement Clean Out: Six Young Life student sand six
members cleaned out the basement on Saturday. One of
the student’s father came and picked up a lot of the left
over construction material.
Front Doors: It’s a mystery! On Friday Pastor stopped
by the church and noticed the front doors were unlocked
and some lights were on and the outside door in the children’s worship room was wedged open. Nobody was in
the building! Who? Why? Please be diligent and relock,
shut off, and secure your church if you open it.
Campbell Soup: Will discontinue the labels for
education program later this summer. Be sure to send
your labels in soon.
Sanctuary Adornment Phil Bauer has completed the
“Holy Spirit Dove”. All the pieces will be arranged in their
permanent places soon. You can see the other shepherd
in the Children’s Worship Center.
Woodworking: Thanks You, ADDISON LUMBER, for
donating the lumber for Christ Connections class project
this week. The kids will be making birdhouses and later
this summer toolboxes.
