Bringing neighbors closer to their community April 2009 THIS ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY IS A CLASS ACT By Jon Burgher M any adult children are finding the need to secure a safe place for their parents to live but hate the thought of a nursing home. When their elderly parent cannot live alone anymore, it can be a very difficult time. The elderly do not want to lose their independence, but the children see the need for them to be in a safe environment and have assistance with their daily activities. Jon and Michelle Burgher started Class Act Assisted Living Homes when Jon’s mom was approaching the time when she could no longer live alone safely. “We looked at a few nursing homes,” Jon said, “but knew she would hate the thought of living in such an institutionalized, sterile environment.” Then a friend suggested assisted living homes as an alternative. “We didn’t even know that they existed at the time, Jon admitted. “So, we began to research them. The advantage we found was that they provided a home atmosphere with a maximum of 10 residents. The problem was that we could not find one that had a balance of excellent care and provided activities for our mom to do to help keep her mind alert and give her the social interaction she needed. That’s when we decided to open our own home.” The philosophy at Class Act Assisted Living Homes is not only to provide a place for your loved one to reside, but to ensure a loving family atmosphere where relationships and friendships are formed. “We offer exceptional physical care, and go far beyond with emphasis on building a trusted and compassionate relationship with our residents and their families,” Jon continued. “We balance this with a wide variety of fun things for our residents to do besides sitting in front of the TV all day. Class Act homes are located in beautiful residential neighborhoods in Mesa. Spacious bedrooms and multiple gathering areas give residents the opportunity to socialize or relax on their own. Each home has a large covered patio and water feature that promotes a cozy, peaceful atmosphere. “We provide all levels of care that ensures our residents can remain in their familiar home among friends, even if their level of care increases,” Jon stated with pride. “We have an exceptional staff-to-resident ratio to ensure individual attention and encourage independence. Every member of our staff is a licensed, certified caregiver and put through an extensive training program before beginning to care for our valued residents. We also provide 24-hour English speaking awake staff.” SERVICES OFFERED AT CLASS ACT ASSISTED LIVING HOMES • Assistance with all activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, incontinence care, etc. • Manage medications to guarantee the safety of residents, POSTAL PATRON ECRWSS including insulin administration for diabetics. • Arrange for a wide variety of in-house physician services, therapy and nursing services, so families can relax and not worry about transporting loved ones. • Offer a variety of home cooked, nutritious meals and snacks. • Include all housekeeping and laundry services. that they can stay in throughout the rest of their lives even when their level of care increases,” Jon said with conviction. “Our goal is to keep our residents’ minds alert and healthy to live life to its fullest,” he continued. “We invite you to come visit our homes.
