WHEREAS 'Trooper Frederick Georye Ilenderson, a member of
the Police Force of Tasmania, was killed at or near Swansea, in
Tasmania, on the Eleventh day of October, One thousand nine hundred
and twenty-two, whilst :in the execution of his duty:

And wheleas the said tl'LlOpel' left. him surviving and inadequately
provided for his widow Alice Maud Henderson and Five young
children, Adam Herald Hendersoll, born on the Twenty-sixth day of
February, One thousand nine hundred and fifteen, A ndrew Henderson,
bom on the Fifth day of July, One thousand nine hundred and sixteen,
Brenda Agnes Hendersort, born on the Eighteenth day of June, One
thousand nine hund)'pd and eighteen . .Jaclt Alexandria Henderfwn,
born on the Eighth day of DecemlJer, One thousand nine hundred and
nineteen, and Marj()ri(~ Isabelta Henderson, born on the Tenth day of
December, One thousand nine hundred and twenty:
And whereas it is desirable that pensions should be granted to the
said widow and children:
Be it therefore enacted by H is Excellency the Governor of Tasmania,
by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and
House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as foUows:-
"Short title.
1 This Act may be cited as "The Henderson Family Pensions Act,
1923."
ARDal pension
2 There shall be payable out of the Consolidated Revenue to the
of £75 to wi,dow. said Alice Maud Ilendfrson an annual pension of Seventy-five Pounds
during her present widowhood.
3 An annual pension of Twenty Pounds is hereby granted to each

The pension hereby granted to any such child shall cease upon the
child attaining the age of Eighteen years. The pension of each such
child shall be payable out of the Consolidated Revenue to the Public
Trustee, on behalf of the gmntee thereof, and the Public Trustee shall,
in his discretion, expend such pension 01' cause the same to be expended,
as he shall think fit, for or towards the maintenance, support, or education, or otherwise for the benefit of the grantee thereof:
. Provided that the Pubiic Trustee may, in his discretion, from time
to time, pay any such pension to the said Alice i',{aud Hendej'son, to
be applied by her for any of the purposes aforesaid, and in such case
the Pu blic Trustee shall not be required to see to the application
thereof, or be responsible for the misapplication thereof.

children of the said Fredcrick Geor,qe H enderson deceased, born in his
lifetime, shall, subject as in this section mentioned, apply to any pension
whjch shall be payable to any such posthumons child to be born as
aforesaid.
6 The Governor shall, from time to time, issue his warrant to the
Treasurer for the payment of the said pensions payable under this Act,
and the same shall thereupon be paid by the TrRasurer to the persons
respectively entitled to receive payment thereof under thiR Act, or to
such other persons as the persons so entitled as aforesaid, by writing
under their respective hands, may respectively appoint to receive the
same.

7 It shall be lawful for the Governor, by warrant under his hand in
case of the death, during the currency of any month, of any person
entitled to a pension under this Act, to direct paymeut to be made to
the Public Trustee of a proportionate part of the pension of such
deceased person up to the day of the death of the deceased person, to ue
by the Public Trustee utilised and expended in his discretion for the
benefit of any surviving child or children of the said Frederick GerJr,qe
H enrierson, dt'ceased.

8 The pensions payable under this Act to, 0)' for the benefit of, the
said widow and children of the said Frederick Geor,qe Fenderson,
deceased, shall be in full satisfaction of anv claim under" The Workers'

them, or the legal per"onal representative of the said Fl'ederick Georye
Hrnderson, or any other person, might, but for this section, have had
agairJst the Crown in respect of the Government of this State, by reason
or ill consequenct: of the death ofthe said Frederick George Henderson,
having been camed by accident arising' out of, and in the course of, his
employment in the service of the Crown.
Nothing in this section shall affect any right which such widow, or
children, or any of them, or such legal personal representative may
have in consequence of the death of the said Frederick (}eorqe
Henderwu, to receive or participate in any moneys payable to such
widow, or children, or any of tbem or to such legal personal representative out of" The Police Provident Fund" established under" The Pulice
Regulation Act, 1898."
