Chemist at ESAB Research Center
More than 100 years of continuous research, development and sale, has made ESAB a
world leader within welding and cutting but also an international supplier of products,
know-how and service that few can match. Today the company produces welding
consumables and equipment for virtually every welding and cutting process and
application. ESAB has subsidiaries and distributors worldwide with about 8,500
employees.
As a main group in Consumables R&D, Research Center has a key role in achieving successful product
development. It is done through research, method and tool development, advanced analysis work, pilot
production as well as customer support. The Research Center organization is designed to provide both
short term solutions and long term know-how within welding metallurgy and welding
applications/processes.
The Chemist will be part of the Central Laboratories and work with analyses and method development
within the field of inorganic analytical chemistry. We use classical wet chemical methods, instrumental
methods like XRF, XRD, OES, ICP and combustion techniques for analysis of moisture, H, C, S, O and N.
The role as Chemist is a permanent, full time position. Start date can be negotiated.
As a Chemist your responsibilities will be to:








Have quality in focus
Perform tests and analyses
Keep up to date with new techniques and develop new analysis methods
Choose, adjust and modify methods/techniques in order to achieve the best results possible
Manage projects and contribute as well as be a project member
Document and update instructions and specifications
Deliver analyses and projects on time – “keep the first promise”
Secure customer satisfaction, both internally and externally
Who are you?
We believe that you have a Master degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering in inorganic analytical
chemistry and minimum 2 years of working experience from Chemistry or Steel industry. You have skills
in one or more of the analysis techniques XRF, XRD, OES and/or ICP. Mineralogy knowledge is a merit.
You have good laboratory skills and the ability to independently execute method development and
experimental projects. As a person you are open minded and innovative with a strong driving force to
process and resolve issues in a timely manner. You are proficient in both written and verbal
communications and are comfortable interacting with both internal and external customers.
The position is placed in Gothenburg, Sweden. Occasional traveling is required.
