News from the Community Partnership on Aging
Executive Director, Stacey O’Brien
It’s not too late to make plans to join us on April 4 for a celebration of diversity as we
welcome speaker Muhammed Hassanali to discuss the Northern Ohio Islamic Community
at 12:30 at Lyndhurst Community Center. Please call our South Euclid office to RSVP.
I want to take a moment to express heartfelt appreciation to our volunteers, many of whom
have been with our agency for many years. The third week of April is National Volunteer
Week. Volunteers involved with our agency participate in an amazing range of activities not
limited to visiting isolated persons in their homes, helping prepare meals, working with our Fresh Goods to Go
Program, assisting school children at Hawken, providing assistance in and around the home and a long list of
other things. We look forward to celebrating our volunteers and their commitment to our mission at our annual
Volunteer Lunch in May.
Our last few dates for AARP Tax Season will take place in the coming weeks. The AARP volunteers are great
examples of local volunteerism. They return year after year, participate in training and spend long days assisting
with the completion of tax returns.
For those who might have difficulty affording needed work to your home, keep in mind that the deadline for our
Summer Repair Project program is quickly approaching! You have until April 14 to return your application to us
to be considered for the 2017 home improvement projects.
Don’t miss our second annual Pasta Dinner on April 20! The event will be held at the South Euclid Community
Center on Thursday, April 20 at 6:00. Tickets can be purchased at the nutrition program or in our South Euclid
office for $10.
And last, but not least, we celebrate Older Americans Month in May. As we have over the last several years,
we’ll again provide lunch at Ross C. DeJohn Community Center followed by a movie shown at Atlas Cinemas
Eastgate. Tickets are required for the movie and reservations are required for lunch. See the back page of our
newsletter for details.
