Uniform Policy
Expectations
● The CDNIS PE uniform consisting of shorts and shirt must be worn in PE
classes.
● Specific athletic shoes with appropriately cushioned soles and support
are required for all PE activities.
● Students also participate in swimming lessons during the year and should
wear appropriate swimwear as well as keep their PE kit in their locker.
● Students with long hair must have their hair tied up.
● No team clothing is to be worn during PE classes.
Changing into PE uniform
● All students should wear their normal school uniform to school.
● Grade 7/8 students need to get changed during each break before and
after their classes or at their earliest convenience.
● Grade 9-12 PE classes will get changed on level 3 changing rooms
before and after their lessons.
Jewelry
● Nose studs are not permitted, unless written permission is given for
cultural or religious reasons. Tongue studs and eyebrow rings are
prohibited.
● Rings, watches and bracelets may not be worn, although religious
necklaces may be worn if they are discreet and do not pose a danger to
themselves or others.
● Other necklaces are not allowed as they can pose a safety issue.
Wet weather expectations (light rain or showers)
● Students should make sure they are prepared to participate in wet
weather conditions.
● Students should include dry underwear, socks and footwear in their
change of clothes.
● A towel should also be brought on wet days.
Hot Weather expectations
● Appropriate sun hats/caps are encouraged for hot, sunny weather
● A towel should be brought for showering
Cold weather expectations
18 degrees or below:
● Students are allowed to wear school approved hoodie or sweatshirts only
● If hoodies have a zip front they should be zipped up when participating in
activity.
● Dark Blue or Black coloured tracksuit bottoms can be worn.
● Black sports leggings/tights can be worn under PE shorts outdoors only.
● Black or white long sleeve thermal/compression tops can be worn under
PE t-shirt
10 degrees or below:
● Beanie and gloves appropriate for sport can be worn.
Forgetting PE Kit/Uniform
● If a student has forgotten kit, they must inform their teacher or teaching
assistant as early as possible on the day, so a spare kit can be organised
for them. This should be done in person at the PHE office (Rm302)
Informing the teacher at the start of class is too late.
Consequences
1. It may affect a student’s report card ATL skills as this demonstrates that a
student is not prepared, ready and organized to participate in a PE class.
2. If a student forgets his/her uniform the following sanctions will be
enforced;
i. First time - verbal warning
ii. Second time - lunchtime detention
iii. Third time - lunchtime detention and email to parents
Any further times the student will be referred to the Head of
Department who will decide further action.
3. Should a student forget their uniform they will need to change into the
uniform provided by the PE department. This includes swim wear.
