JUNE BIRTHDAYS
It is so very difficult to select an employee of the month each
and every month. So for the June/July newsletter; I’m selecting each and everyone of the employees who work with
Walton County as the Employee of the Month.
No matter in which department you work you all have to
deal with the public, to some degree, each and every day.
Most days this is very easy, but some days it isn’t. Most days
you enjoy the job that you do, other days, not so much, still
you are here every day doing the very best that you can to
ensure that Walton County is the best place to live, work and
play.
As a Commissioner, I may not always get a chance to tell you,
personally, how much I appreciate that you decided to work
for Walton County and what a good job you are doing.

71 years ago, on June 6,
1944: D-Day is seen as
the turning point in the
Allied victory in World
War II.
The “D” in D-Day, as it
was nicknamed, didn’t
actually stand for anything. IT was just a
military designation
meaning a certain day on
the calendar for
Operation Overlord.


New business coming to DeFuniak Springs; next door to
Walgreens.

Choctaw Beach park and boat ramp are being renovated

EDA Director is working diligently to get a manufacturing company in the Freeport Industrial Park; hope it happens.

Local Restore Act Committee is accepting applications for projects until July 31st. Applications are on line at the Walton
County website or contact Melinda Gates for more information
892-8108.

There are more buildings being built at the Mossy Head Industrial Park and another business who wants to locate here is in
the final stages of negotiations.

Public Works will be working on road and bridge improvements.

Construction on US Highway 331 is moving along rapidly,
please be careful when traveling to Freeport and south Walton.

Schools are out for the summer and the vacation season has begun, with lots of people visiting the beaches.

Lecom is accepting dental patients.


Commissioners will be attending the Florida Association of
Counties Annual Meeting June 16th thru the 19th.

The Fair Building is getting a new roof and some much needed
improvements.

The BCC will be holding a “Yard Sale” soon.

The Freeport Pool is open.

The 26th Annual 4th of July Celebration will be on Saturday,
July 4th in the lake yard in DeFuniak Springs. The parade is at
4:30 p.m. children’s activities and entertainment beginning at
6:00 p.m. and the fireworks will be at dark, brought to you by
the DeFuniak Business and Professional Association.

The BCC meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at the
south Walton Annex and the 4th Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. at the
Walton County Courthouse.

