PRESS RELEASE JICA's Disaster Relief Program: - Japan grants 20 million Japanese Yen worth of emergency relief goods to the flood victims in Mekong Delta - Hà Ná»™i, November 1st, 2011 - The Japanese Government, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has decided to grant emergency relief goods worth 20 million Japanese Yen (approximately 253,000 US dollars in equivalent) to the flood-stricken people in the Mekong Delta Region in Vietnam. The emergency relief goods include plastic jerry cans, water tanks and power generators, which are in high demand by the communities. This emergency relief aims to help the people of the Mekong Delta to overcome the aftermaths caused by recent floods, which claimed the lives of over 60 people and forced more than 8,000 households to evacuate. On 2 November 2011, representatives of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam and JICA Vietnam will handover the relief goods to the Fatherland Front Central Committee.
