Heart Saver CPR ~ Morning or Afternoon Session
Age: 5th grade & Up
Class Limit: 16
A CPR course taught to Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, Day Care Providers and family members. Includes the use of the automatic
defibrillator (AED) as well as basic CPR for adults, children and babies. Also includes some rescue techniques for safety and
choking. Successful completion of the course will earn students a card that states they know CPR and the first steps to save a
life.
Electric Kids ~ Morning or Afternoon Session
Age: 4th – 8th grade
Class Limit: 8
Students will explore electronics and discover fun projects to build and solder. Students will conclude the session with a neat
working project to take home.
Engineering Design for Your Future ~ Morning or Afternoon Session
Age: 6th – 8th grade
Class Limit: 12
Design and model your own custom keychain prototype and cut it out with a 3D Printer and CNC Milling Machine in the
Mechatronics Lab.
Nursing Fundamentals ~ Morning or Afternoon Session
Age: 6th – 8th grade
Class Limit: 10
Explore the fundamentals of nursing concepts, principles, and practices necessary to meet basic needs of patients. Basic
nursing skills in the nursing skills lab will be demonstrated and then practiced on mannequins and each other. Students
should bring an orange to class.
Drawing Dynamics ~ Morning or Afternoon Session
Age: 4th – 8th grade
Class Limit: 15
Drawing of still-life, portraits, animals and landscapes will be covered. Line value and perspective will also be explored. Along
with the proper use of drawing supplies.
Introduction to Ice Skating/Hockey ~ Morning or Afternoon Session
Age: 4th – 8th grade
Class Limit: 15
Students will learn the basic skills of ice skating and be introduced to some of the skills needed for hockey. They will learn how
to skate forward/backwards , how to stop properly, safety precautions and the basic skills of hockey such as shooting, stick
handling and passing.
Anti-Bullying Club ~ Afternoon Session Only
Age: 4th – 8th Grade

The anti-bullying club will teach students to define and name bullying behaviors and myths. Everyone, from the bully, the
bullied, and the
bystander, will learn strategies to stop and prevent the destructive behavior in its tracks.
Tae Kwon Do ~ Morning Session Only
Age: 4th – 8th grade
Class Limit: 20
Traditional program that includes building strong coordination, focus, respect, and self discipline skills. Awareness training
for self defense and safety training included. This program includes Powerful Words character development program along
with beneficial physical skills.
College Ready? ~ Morning Session Only
Age: 7th & 8th grade
Class Limit: 20
This course will expose students to the realities of being successful in college. Topics will include: learning the value of a college
degree, learning about and reviewing various career options, evaluating various college and university options and what can be
done now to be best prepared for college.
Kids Safe Mixed Martial Arts ~ Afternoon Session Only
Age: 4th – 8th grade
Class Limit: 20
Mixed Martial Arts is comprised of boxing, kick-boxing, Muay Thai, Brazillian Jiu Jitsu (no GI/uniform), and wrestling skills.
This is an excellent self discipline, self confidence, self defense program not based on competition. Safe, supervised skill
building.
Graphic Communications ~ Morning or Afternoon Session
Age: 6th – 8th grade
Class Limit: 15
Graphic Communications is an in-depth study of printing and graphic design. Students will receive training in job planning,
layout and design., graphic design using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. Students will be able to screen print, create
vinyl decals and be exposed to dye sublimation.
Basketball Basics ~ Morning Session Only
Age: 4th – 8th grade
Class Limit: 15
The fundamentals of dribbling, passing and shooting a basketball taught by progressive drills that allow participants to learn at
a steady pace with ample time to practice the skills that are taught each day. Increase dribbling skills, improve passing ability,
and develop better shooting form and ability.
Mini Chef ~ Morning or Afternoon Session
Age: 4th – 8th grade

Are you the next Food Network Star in the making? Come and explore a variety of recipes and learn the basics of cooking.
Help out in the kitchen and surprise your folks with your knowledge and ability to make your own snacks and mini-meals.
Protect & Serve! ~ Morning Session Only
Age: 4th – 8th grade
Class Limit: 15
Students will be exposed to the occupations designed to protect and serve people. Police, emergency medical services, fire and
military will all be explored. Students will explore crime scene processing, learn basic first aid, search and rescue, and
military procedures and tactics . They will experience safety equipment and learn about service vehicles. On Friday
materials and vehicles will be on display as students provide equipment demonstrations. There will be no live weapons,
ammunition or explosives used in any of the classes.
Outdoor Recreation & Skills ~ Morning Session Only
Age: 4th – 8th grade

Come and explore outdoor recreation and skills with us! Students will learn skills needed in the outdoors and recreation
opportunities available with an outdoor theme. Outdoor cooking skills will also be learned and experienced. Wear
appropriate clothing based on the weather each day.
Build-a-Business ~ Morning Session Only

Would you like to be your own boss? Are you interested in learning how to start a business? Build-a-Business will get you
started! Explore
what it takes to be an entrepreneur. Learn how to turn your ideas into income. Team up with other youth and put your ideas to
the test.
Make connections with entrepreneurs and local business advisors. Gain marketable skills for planning and starting your own
business.
Summer Reading Camp ~ Morning or Afternoon Session

Do you enjoy reading? Do you like creating based on what you have read? Do you just enjoy the indoors and the quiet of
curling up with a good book? Then Summer Reading Camp is for you! Explore stories and poems and use your imagination to
create from your reading experience.
Underwater ROV (Remote Operated Vehicle) Construction and Piloting ~ Morning Session Only
Age: 6th – 8th grade
Class Limit: 12
Students will design, construct, and pilot an underwater ROV (remote operated vehicle) using pvc pipes and joints, bilge pump
motors and propellers, a tethered control box, and an underwater camera and monitor. After constructing the ROV the
students will pilot it in a series of challenges in the WSCC pool. These challenges are based on the 2013 MATE Underwater
ROV Competition and deal with the real world theme of Ocean Observing Systems.
Digital Photography ~ Morning or Afternoon Session
Age: 4th – 8th grade
Class Limit: 10
Digital photography is fun and exciting and opens a whole new world to students. Learn what makes a good picture, good
lighting, and when to use fill flash. Photoshop techniques will be taught and students will experience photography by choosing
their subjects while exploring the
campus. Students should bring a digital camera to class.
Pond Ecology ~ Morning Session Only
Age: 4th – 8th grade
Class Limit: 20
Students will learn the habitats in the WSCC pond community by netting, sorting, and collecting. Collections will take place by
netting and identifying macro invertebrates and then identifying the species from a chart. Microscopes will be used to identify
plankton and invertebrates. Students will also fish for species in the pond by sampling with rod/reel. Once the collection is
finished, a food web/chain will be drawn of the pond showing different trophic levels. Students will then construct a pond
community by using plastic two-liter bottle. Students should bring boots, two liter bottle, and fishing poles (if
possible).
Playing at the Piano ~ Morning Session Only
Age: 4th – 6th grade

Students will be exposed to a variety of classical and modern piano/keyboard music. Students will learn notes on the keyboard,
proper hand placement, basic reading of music, how to form chords and how to play a tune “by ear”.
Softball Fundamentals Camp ~ Morning Session (4th - 6th Grade) Afternoon Session (7th - 8th Grade)

Learn the fundamentals of softball! Improve your catching, throwing, batting and fielding skills while learning the proper
techniques.
Softball is a great sport but sometimes students learn the basic skills improperly and then struggle to break bad habits. Learn
the skills correctly the first time and have fun doing it!
Bridge Building (and Destroying!) ~ Afternoon Session Only
Age: 6th – 8th grade

Students will learn the basics of the engineering process related to bridge building, have the opportunity to apply math skills,
receive exposure to CAD software, and gain knowledge of the STEM concepts related to bridge building.
Acting for Kids ~ Morning or Afternoon Session
Age: 4th – 8th grade
Learn the craft of acting by focusing on stage positions, stage movement, vocal production improvisation and the basics of
character
development. We will have fun learning to act together and will showcase our newly acquired skills in a final presentation.
Wear clothing that permits movement.
Exploring Space ~ Afternoon Session Only
Age: 4th – 8th grade

Let’s examine the depths of space! Students will learn about the eight planets and dwarf planets, the moon, comets, meteors,
and constellations. The course is intended to study space by hands on learning through projects. Projects include modeling the
solar system, create/design a planet for humans, drawing constellations, and designing/engineering a rocket.
Hiking & Outdoor Survival Skills ~ Afternoon Session Only
Age: 4th – 8th grade
Class Limit: 15
Students will learn the basic skills of hiking and surviving in the wilderness, tree and plant identification, and gain an
appreciation for wilderness activities. Much of this course will be outdoors, so appropriate clothing & footwear is necessary.
Crafty Creative Kids ~ Morning Session (4th - 5th Grade) Afternoon Session (6th - 8th Grade)

Explore your creativity by working with age appropriate, hands-on crafts. Students will make fun homemade crafts to take
home. Share your creativity and inspiring mind with your family and friends. Students should bring an apron or
painting shirt to protect clothes.
Creative Writing ~ Morning Session Only

Love to write? Participate in the Creative Writer’s Workshop and build confidence while connecting to your own writing. Have
fun learning strategies that will help you develop ownership and independence in your writing skills.
Web Page Creation ~ Morning or Afternoon Session
Age: 4th – 6th grade
Class Limit: 15
Learn HTML, the markup language that makes web pages look like they do on the internet. Using HTML, you can create web
pages without buying expensive programs. Once you know HTML, you will understand how web pages work and why they look
like they do. Web pages will be displayable in Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox; however they will not be published to the
web. Students should bring a USB memory device to save computer files.
Cast Away! ~ Morning or Afternoon Session
Age: 4th – 8th grade
Class Limit: 10
Students will learn the basics of shoreline fishing. This includes learning the parts of a fishing pole to the parts of a fish; local
fish identification; different baits, knots, and casting methods; fishing etiquette; as well as how to clean a fish safely. The
highlight of the week will be Tournament Day on Friday with prizes and a fish cookout! Encourage your children to experience
the wonderful outdoor sport of FISHING! Students should bring a fishing pole with them if at all possible.
Sunscreen or raincoat availability dependent on weather.
African/Caribbean Based Drumming & Music ~ Morning Session (6th - 8th Grade) Afternoon Session
(4th - 6th Grade)

Learn to drum and play small percussion within an African and Caribbean based drumming ensemble. The ensemble requires
communication, listening, teamwork and respect for others as they learn about music from these areas.
Art Journaling ~ Morning or Afternoon Session
Age: 4th – 6th grade
Class Limit: 15
Learn how art journaling is a great way to express yourself, even if you don't think of yourself as an artist! We will use a variety
of tools and techniques to create our journals, and will learn about how to talk about art, and use art as a way to deal with
what's going on around you.
Healthy Hearts: Fitness Camp for Kids ~ Morning or Afternoon Session
Age: 4th – 8th grade
Class Limit: 15
Students will be physically active and engaged in the learning process while participating in a wide variety of fun activities and
sports. Students will learn how to set goals, make correct nutritional choices and live a healthy lifestyle. Wear appropriate
clothing and footwear for physical activity.
