Greetings Friends from hot and humid Paw Paw, MI

Greetings Friends from hot and humid Paw Paw, MI....
I bet you thought I was going to say I was somewhere exotic right? Well, it feels like we are in the Caribbean anyway doesn't it? Is this
what we were waiting for back in January? Luckily this is Michigan and it won't last long.
First of all let me say how sad I was to hear about the passing of our dear friend Betty. She was such a wonderful painter, lady, and
friend. We have lost so many wonderful people in the past few years. All are still missed and thought about often, just like Betty will be.
What an inspiration they have all been to us.
I am excited about our project coming up for fall camp. It is such a beautiful piece. I hope many of you can join us. It will be a fun
time.
I'm sorry I haven't made many of our paint-ins this year. Unfortunately my employer thinks that making car parts is more important
than painting with your friends... what priorities they have... and I can't argue with them... but I am looking forward to camp. And I am
hoping I will be able to change jobs soon, so keep your fingers crossed for me. I really miss painting with all of you, and this is just one
more reason I am excited about fall camp.
Not a whole lot to say this month, but hope to see you all real soon. Keep those creative juices flowing!
Essy Goss, President

Thank you, Cathy, for teaching the glass painting class.
The butterfly was beautiful, and now you should all be
able to pick up a glass and start painting on your own!

I know all our Friends In Art members were so
sorry to hear about Betty’s passing. She was such
a wonderful person, as well as a beautiful painter.
She will be dearly missed by all of us.

Some of the memory boxes we
painted for Bronson Hospital.
She hurried to the pharmacy to get medication. Got back to
her car and found that she had locked her keys inside.
The woman found an old rusty coat hanger left on the
ground. She looked at it and said, "I don't know how to use
this." She bowed her head and asked God to send her
some HELP. Within 5 minutes a beat-up old motorcycle
pulled up, driven by a bearded man who was wearing an
old biker skull rag. He got off of his cycle and asked if he
could help. She said: "Yes, my daughter is sick. I've
locked my keys in my car. I must get home. Please, can
you use this hanger to unlock my car?" He said, "Sure." He
walked over to the car, and in less than a minute the car
was open. She hugged the man and through tears said,
"Thank You, God, for sending me such a very nice man."
The man heard her little prayer and replied, "Lady, I am
NOT a nice Man. I just got out of prison yesterday; I was in FIA has purchased some extra boxes, we’ll have
prison for car theft." The woman hugged the man again,
them at camp if anyone has some spare time
sobbing, "Oh, thank you, God! You even sent me a Profesthat weekend and would like to paint one.

Essy teaching this pencil class
"Migration", which is a Tina Sue Norris
original design done in colored pencil, is
a beautiful piece focusing on the ever
decreasing Monarch Butterfly. This is a
repetitive piece, but I think you will actually find it very relaxing to do as you can
really just sit and color. It looks a little
daunting, but believe me, it is a very fun
and easy piece. Come try it, I'm sure you
will just love it. Actually it was a stress
reliever for me! Essy
To protect copyright, Essy will have to
order this pattern from Tina. Without the Suede Board it will
be around $10.00 a pattern. She will email Tina and see
what kind of discount she can get for 10 patterns or more.
Palette: Prismacolor pencil - White, Canary Yellow, Yellow
Orange, Cream, Mineral Orange, Orange, Sienna Brown,
Light Umber, Sepia, Apple Green, Olive Green, Tuscan Red.
This can be done on Artist Colored Paper, and it turns out
beautiful. Paper is a little more forgiving than Suede board,
and if you want the paper, Essy will have it on hand for no
charge. She also did this with an Identi-pen instead of black
colored pencil, and said it turned out beautiful and made the
oranges and yellows really pop off the paper. It was also a lot
quicker and easier on the hands. But, she cautions you that
using the pen is totally unforgiving, but if you take your time,
you will be just fine.
~I’ll have the total cost of this project in the next newsletter~
I never make the same mistake twice. I make it
five or six times, you know, just to be sure.
Dorothy and Edna, two "senior" widows, are talking...
Dorothy: "That nice George Johnson asked me out for a
date. I know you went out with him last week, and I wanted
to talk with you about him before I give him my answer."
Edna: "Well, I'll tell you. He shows up at my apartment
punctually at 7 pm, dressed like such a gentleman in a fine
suit, and he brings me such beautiful flowers! Then he
takes me downstairs. And what's there - a limousine, uniformed chauffeur and all. Then he takes me out for dinner a marvelous dinner, lobster, champagne, dessert and afterdinner drinks. Then we go see a show. Let me tell you
Dorothy, I enjoyed it so much I could have just died from
pleasure! So then we are coming back to my apartment and
he turns into an ANIMAL. Completely crazy, he tears off my
expensive new dress and has his way with me three times!"
Dorothy: "Goodness gracious! So you are telling me I
shouldn't go?"
Edna: "No, no, no ... I'm just saying, wear an old dress."
Muslin Book Store….So, I was walking through the mall and
saw that there was a "Muslim Book Store." I was wondering
what exactly was in a Muslim bookstore so I went in. As I
was wandering around taking a look, the clerk stopped me
and
asked if he could help me. I imagine I didn't look like his
normal clientele, so I asked, “Do you have a copy of the U.
S. Immigration Policy Book regarding Muslims?” The clerk
said, "F--- off, get out and stay out!" I said, "Yes, that's the
one. Do you have it in paperback?

PALETTE FOR 2015 FALL CAMP

Everyone will need their surface, of course and the Maureen round brushes #9, #7, #4 and #3. I will get the special palette paper when I am at HOOT. You will need the big 9"x12" wet palette (the one with the yellow top) and either a chamois or blue
shop paper towels to use in the wet palette. There are tons of paint colors and some are discontinued, but between all of us,
we will have the colors. Here is the list- all Deco Art

I think that is all of them. I don't think I left any out. Like I said, some are discontinued and we will have to dig deep in our
stash to find them all and share. Deco has a chart somewhere on their website that lists how to mix the discontinued colors if
absolutely necessary. All of the gals need to base the pieces in lamp black. The main part of the lazy susan does not need to
be based in black- it will be either gold leafed or I did a faux finish on mine in raw sienna and burnt umber. I will furnish the extender for the paint, but if they want to make their own, it is 1 part easy float and 3 parts distilled water.
