Welcome Friends & Family
On behalf of the Zachary Hebda Foundation, we want to thank the
leadership and membership of the M5 Society for continuing to sponsor
the Zachary Hebda Foundation Gala. We are also grateful for the support from our corporate sponsors. In particular, I would like to recognize AT&T Government Solutions, who has been our major Corporate
sponsor from the beginning. With out their support our efforts would
not be possible. The foundation was created shortly after our son died
in June 1999. Since that time through the efforts of a small but very
dedicated volunteer group, the foundation has supported childhood
cancer research being conducted locally at Johns Hopkins University
Hospital. Johns Hopkins is not only a local hospital. It is a world class
teaching hospital, training the next generation of oncologist. We are
fortunate to have this center in our back yard!
Specifically, the foundation provides "seed" money to allow the worldrenowned physicians and scientists who work at Johns Hopkins to
prove theories and treatment protocols. We know the research has paid
off. There are children alive today, because they participated in clinical
trials funded by the Zachary Hebda Foundation.
In closing, I would like to tell you a very short story about Zack. After
he had been diagnosed with cancer, he was very interested in why his
cells became cancerous and what they looked like compared to healthy
cells. The team of doctors who were treating Zack were a little surprised that a five year old was so interested in this type of information. After a few weeks of questions by Zack, Dr. Megan Higman
and Dr. Alan Chen made arrangements for Zack to go down to the lab
with them. When he returned to his room that Sunday afternoon, Zack
was excited and a bit more inquisitive about the research being conducted at Johns Hopkins. Your support of the foundation and our efforts
has kept Zack's hope alive that someday, there would be more ways to
treat cancer or maybe cancer itself would not exist.
Sincerely,
Joe & Kim Hebda

Message from the M5 Society
Originally created in 1982 at the request of the NSA’s Director of
Security, Philip T. Pease, the M5 Society’s goal was to reestablish
contacts in hopes of reviving friendships and professional bonds
that began so many years before. The M5 Society is a professional
and social organization whose primary goal is to encourage all
members of the Associate Directorate for Security and
Counterintelligence to interact in various social settings with
current, former, and retired NSA Security personnel. Today the
M5 Society sponsors many annual events like holiday parties, golf
outings, sporting events, shopping trips, and 5K runs.
Once again, the M5 Society is honored to support the Zachary
Hebda Foundation Gala. The M5 Society is committed to a spirit
of caring and supporting the well being of our community. The

Raise the Paddle and Camp Sunrise
During the live auction section of the evening you will have
the opportunity to “Raise the Paddle” for Camp Sunrise.
“Raise the Paddle” is an opportunity for you to make a fully
tax-deductible contribution toward Johns Hopkins’ Camp
Sunrise, a special one-week, cost-free camp for children who
have battled or are battling cancer. Camp Sunrise provides
an overnight summer experience to children aged 6-18, as
well as a day camp that allows younger children, ages 4 -5, to
be a part of the camp experience. During camp, children are
able to experience a “normal” summer camp while also
keeping their medical needs in mind.
The auctioneer will announce “Raise the Paddle” and explain
that several cash donation levels will be offered. Simply
consider your level of interest and, when that level is
announced, raise your bid number high. You will get a
receipt showing your donation that you can use when you
check out at the end of the evening.
More about Camp Sunrise
Camp Sunrise is a camping experience that will
change a child’s life. By combining an exciting camp
experience with medical support, campers can feel accepted
by other children because of the shared experience of cancer.
During a routine day, campers may receive everything
from a band-aid to chemotherapy. A dedicated volunteer
team of pediatric oncology specialists are on site 24 hours a
day to continuously meet the complex needs of the campers.

401 Bob Dylan Guitar
Bob Dylan is an American songwriter, singer, painter,
and writer. He has been influential in popular music and
culture for more than five decades. Much of his most
celebrated work dates from the 1960s, when his songs
chronicled social unrest. Early songs such as "Blowin' in
the Wind" and "The Times They Are a-Changin'"
became anthems for the Civil Rights Movement and anti
-war movement. Leaving behind his initial base in the
American folk music revival, his six-minute single "Like
a Rolling Stone", recorded in 1965, enlarged the range
of popular music. This guitar has been signed by Bob
Dylan and will make a great addition or start to your
collection!

Meet the Artist
Connie Aro
Connie is a lifetime student of the arts displaying her talent from a
very young age. She has a keen eye for detail both in fine arts and
fiber arts. Her work has been displayed at countless shows and
exhibits throughout the United States.
Her gift is her ability to let the piece she is working on dictate what
its outcome will look like. This is the reason everything she creates is
a “one of a kind”. She has an extensive collection of fabrics that
she has hand chosen from all over the country spanning the last 20
years. Her collection contains everything from out of print fabrics to
upholstery samples. This makes for an interesting creative process,
because in some cases what she has on hand is all there
is…anywhere. She has shared her talents and passion with us
tonight to help spread hope to end Childhood Cancer.
Meet the Musicians
Casey Lebkicker
I am 15 years old and am a sophomore at Old Mill High School in
Millersville. I have been playing viola for 8 years since third grade. I
am a part of my school's Tri-M club which is a music honors society
where we bring music to local communities. I take private lessons
with Kristen Vineyard at her home in Pasadena. I play with the
Chesapeake Symphony Orchestra and have played on stage at
Carnegie Hall with them. This summer I hope to travel to southern
France in CYSO’s new chamber orchestra. I have also performed
side by side with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, been in the All
County Orchestra for 4 years, and been in the All state Orchestra
for 2 years. I have been doing Solo and ensemble for 6 years and
have received a superior rating for my solo performances every year
at the county and state level. Last year I performed with a group
called MEGA and this year I am currently in a trio with them.
Outside of this a few friends of mine formed a quartet group with
myself included to play for any events that come up. I am now
teaching summer lessons for kids in middle and elementary school
and love it. I also play at my church. Being in orchestra and
performing solos is really fun and I have a passion for it!
Meet the Musicians
Beatrice Grunskin
I am a junior at The Key School in Annapolis, Maryland. I have been playing
viola for ten years, since the second grade. I take lessons with Daphne Benichou
at her home in Baltimore. I play with the Chesapeake Youth Symphony
Orchestra and have gone on tour with the orchestra to Montreal and Ireland.
This summer, I am looking forward to touring southern France with CYSO’s
new chamber orchestra. In addition to CYSO, I also intern occasionally with the
Mid Atlantic Symphony Orchestra (a professional orchestra). I have performed
with CYSO at Carnegie Hall and with multiple chamber groups on the Kennedy
Center’s Millennium Stage. I have performed with and been coached by
members of the Aeolus Quartet during George Washington University’s
summer chamber music institute. I have also performed in local masterclasses
and a masterclass at the Royal Academy of Music in Dublin, Ireland. My love
for chamber music inspired me to form my own string quartet with several
friends from the greater Annapolis area, and to start a chamber music activity at
my school. I also have a passion for promoting music within my community. I
am the Vice President of Annapolis Young Artists Program, a student led
outreach organization that aims to promote and foster a love of music in the
surrounding community. We play at retirement homes and the Lighthouse
Shelter, usher at local concerts, and are currently in the process of organizing a
benefit concert to raise funds and awareness for children in Haiti with intestinal
worms.
