Welcome
This Guide will provide you with details of the uniform items that your child(ren)
will need at Dubai English Speaking School and / or Dubai English Speaking College.
At DESSC, uniform is a very important part of school life we believe that it gives
our young people a sense of belonging to the DESSC community, a focus for the
school day ahead and an overall a sense of pride. As a school, the quality of
uniform is something that matters to us. We also want to know that you are
getting a good standard of service – in short, that you can get what uniform items
you want, when you want it and when you need it; we believe that being in control
of our own two shops, working with partners we rate highly, will enable us to do
this. For our part, we see this as an important development in our on-going efforts
to provide our parents and their children with the best of everything.
Such is the value we place on school uniform, in 2015 we partnered with Trutex to
launch our very own dedicated uniform shops; one at each school, with convenient
hours to suit parents, easy access and an online pre-ordering service to help
parents with purchasing. Trutex have trained staff to assist with any sizing
questions you may have.
Full details of the uniform rules can be found in the DESS or DESC Parents’
Handbook.
Order Forms can be downloaded from the website or from Communicator.

Measuring Guide
BOY
GIRL
Inside leg measuring for trouser is the same as for boys
Height
Stand child against a wall and mark on the wall where the top of the head is.
Measure from the top of the head mark down to the ground - ensuring the child is
barefoot and has his or her heels together and feet flat on the floor.
Chest
Take the tape through the arms and around the fullest part of the chest.
Waist
Place the tape measure around the natural waistline, taking care not to pull it too
tightly.
Hips
Place the tape measure around the fullest part of the bottom.
Inside leg
Measure with shoes on, to approximately 5cm above the ground.
Collar
Place the tape measure around the base of the neck where the collar usually sits,
again taking care not to pull the tape too tightly as it is important to have a little
extra room around the neck.

We expect all our students to come to College neatly groomed and smartly
dressed, in the correct and appropriate clothing. This sets a professional work
ethic.
Students need to be aware that our expectations are the same when they are
wearing the DESC uniform outside of College. Parents are asked to support
their child in meeting these expectations.
