At DESSC, uniform is a very important part of school life we believe that it gives our young people a sense of belonging to the DESSC community, a focus for the school day ahead and an overall a sense of pride. As a school, the quality of uniform is something that matters to us. We also want to know that you are getting a good standard of service – in short, that you can get what uniform items you want, when you want it and when you need it; we believe that being in control of our own two shops, working with partners we rate highly, will enable us to do this. For our part, we see this as an important development in our on-going efforts to provide our parents and their children with the best of everything. Such is the value we place on school uniform, in 2015 we partnered with Trutex to launch our very own dedicated uniform shops; one at each school, with convenient hours to suit parents, easy access and an online pre-ordering service to help parents with purchasing. Trutex have trained staff to assist with any sizing questions you may have. Full details of the uniform rules can be found in the DESS or DESC Parents’ Handbook. Order Forms can be downloaded from the website or from Communicator. 3|Page Updated October 2016 SCHOOL UNIFORM SHOPS DESS and DESC each have their own dedicated uniform shop on site. Measure from the top of the head mark down to the ground - ensuring the child is barefoot and has his or her heels together and feet flat on the floor. Chest Take the tape through the arms and around the fullest part of the chest. Waist Place the tape measure around the natural waistline, taking care not to pull it too tightly. Hips Place the tape measure around the fullest part of the bottom. Inside leg Measure with shoes on, to approximately 5cm above the ground. Collar Place the tape measure around the base of the neck where the collar usually sits, again taking care not to pull the tape too tightly as it is important to have a little extra room around the neck. 5|Page Updated October 2016 Dubai English Speaking School (DESS) GIRLS’ UNIFORM: FOUNDATION STAGE ONE ONLY Red and white striped cotton dress with zip front Plain white ankle socks Red/White hair bands, scrunchies and other red hair accessories Red Knitwear cotton blend with DESS logo Black shoes Red school hat SPORTSWEAR GIRLS School shirt and shorts with House colours White trainers and white socks DESS Swim Suit Swim cap in House colour House Colours 6|Page Updated October 2016 BOYS’ UNIFORM: FOUNDATION STAGE ONE ONLY Grey shorts with logo Red & white stripe shirt with zip front Red Knitwear Cotton Blend with DESS logo Plain grey ankle socks Black shoes Red School hat SPORTSWEAR BOYS School shirt and shorts with House colours White trainers and white socks DESS Junior Swim Briefs Swim cap in House colour Option of Red UV suit/UV swim tops House Colours Other items – Boys and Girls Red DESS School bag – no trolley bags allowed P.E.
