Dear LGBA Members Interested in the 2016 Honors Jazz Band
Welcome to the 2016 LGBA in Palm Springs! To ensure a successful blind
audition for this honor group, here are the guidelines you have been waiting for.
The materials needed for your audition include recordings of the accompaniment
tracks as well as the chord changes. You can download all the materials from

Instructions:
Winds: Your recordings should include:
1. Audition Track 1: One time through the melody, and two times through the
solo changes.
2. Audition Track 2: One time through the melody, and two times through the
solo changes.
3. Recording of specified measures of Swing, Swing, Swing with a tempo of 192.
Audition on the part you wish to play for the ensemble.

3. 16 bars of each of these styles: (this can be one recording demonstrating
your ability to play in different jazz styles).

To turn in your audition, go to the following link and attach your audio files.
Please do not send video because this is a blind audition. Each person must turn
in recordings of the audition materials. You must include the improvisation
recordings using the recorded chord changes to be considered for solo
opportunities. You may turn them with separate recordings (your name will be
attached to each recording as you turn them in through the link below), or
combine your recordings into one file. This link enables you to upload your file
and prompts you to fill in your name and email address. Once we receive that
file, we will remove your name and the judges will only get a numbered file for
each recording. The person receiving your files will keep a spreadsheet with
your name and assigned number as a cross-reference. In this way, the
musicians listening to the auditions will have no way of knowing who is playing.

Auditions will be accepted from now until March 11, 2016. You will be informed
of the final decision on approximately April 18, 2016. Thank you for your interest
in the Honors Jazz Band. If there are enough applications accepted for members
and alternates, a second band might be formed to perform at another event
during the convention. If you have not already done so, registration will need to
be completed upon acceptance into the Jazz Band:

Your recordings will be submitted to the judges without any registration forms.
Results will be posted only by part and initials.
