1/26/15-1/30/15
Topic: 7.5-7.7 Trig Word Problems
What are we learning?
Daily Objective:
 I will be able to use SOH CAH TOA and angle of depression/elevation to solve trig
word problems.
TEKS/AP/Standards:
 G.11.C: Develop, apply, and justify triangle similarity relationships, such as right
triangle ratios, trigonometric ratios, and Pythagorean triples using a variety of
methods.
How will we learn it?
Learning Activities:
 Intro: SOH CAH TOA Song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIWJo5uK3Fo
 Students will apply SOH CAH TOA ratios to solve trig word problems.
How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly?
Assessment Methods:
 Guided Practice Problems
Checks for Understanding:
 Teacher will have a Q&A session over the previous night’s homework.
 Teacher will be walking around while the students are working on trig word
problems.
What do I need to be successful?
 Chapter 7B Packet

Wed/Thur
How will we learn it?
Learning Activities:
 Gallery Walk: Students will work in groups of three or four. Each group will be
assigned numbers in order to create their own trig word problem along with using
angle of elevation and depression. Groups will put their problem on a poster and will
place it around the room. The groups will rotate to each poster and solve the other
group’s trig word problem. Each poster will have the answer provided, but covered.
Once the groups have gone to each poster. The answers will be revealed in order to
check.
How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly?
Assessment Methods:
 Students will have to create their own trig word problem according to the previous
day’s lesson.
Checks for Understanding:
 Students will have to check their word problem with their teacher before putting it
on a poster.
 Students will be able to self-check if they solved each group’s trig word problem
correctly at the end of the gallery walk.
