ABOUT ANIMAL ADVOCATES
Animal Advocates is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to ending animal suffering in our area. In addition to helping Shelter pets, our efforts include taking
high-risk animals with medical needs or those considered
less adoptable into the safety of our rescue program. But
that’s not enough to truly end homelessness. Prevention is
the key. That’s why we also have a nationally recognized
Spay/Neuter program to help needy residents, and a
Humane Education program to teach kids about compassion
and responsibility. Each year, we serve thousands of people
and pets; our goal is to end the needless killing of adoptable
animals in our metropolitan region.

EVENT DAY REGISTRATION
Hello! I’m a little beagle who was found running around as a stray earlier this year. I was taken to a local shelter. There I was named Marvin,
I guess because I am marvelous. The shelter staff
was nice to me; I got a bath and finally some food
and a warm place to sleep. But they had to make
a tough decision. Because of my age (yes, I’m an
older gentleman) and some skin and ear problems,
the shelter could not invest the time and resources
it would take to get me healthy enough for adoption. So once my stray time
was up, my number would be up as well. An email was sent out to local rescues and animal groups, to see if any organization would be able to rescue me
and provide the care needed to make me healthy. That’s where Animal
Advocates of Howard County came in. They took me out of the shelter and
put me in foster care – I was given another chance! Life in my foster home
has been great – I’m getting treated for my skin and ear issues. My coat is
shiny and I have a lot more energy than I used to. I get along great with my
foster beagle brothers, and my foster mom and dad love me to pieces.
Everyone who has met me agrees that I’m a pretty special little guy. The
best part is that I can wait here for my forever home as long as I need to –
there’s no time limit on me anymore! And, I have YOU to thank for it.
Because of your generous support of the annual Walk for Paws, Animal
Advocates of Howard County was able to pay for my care – and save my life!
Without the Walk for Paws fundraiser, I’m told, there would not be enough
money to save the cats and dogs who, like me, have run out of time in the
shelters. And there are a lot of them – especially now in these tough economic times. Animal Advocates has
been kind enough to dedicate this year’s
Walk to me – isn’t that great? I think of
them every night when I curl up in a soft
blanket on my favorite chair and realize
how close I came to being just another euthanasia statistic. Please help keep more
dogs and cats alive by supporting the
Walk for Paws again this year!
