Together we can do it – ka taea e tatou – together we are able WEEK 5 TERM 1, 27th February 2017 Phone: 06 7529733 *Fax: 06 7529112 *email: [email protected] * web: www.mokau.school.nz I said it last week but I will say it again – thank you all so much for the contribution you have made to Mokau School in the last week. We had a wonderful support crew at swimming sports in Waitara and the support for the Bike Ride was amazing – not just our school parents but their extended families and community members. It wasn’t ideal having these 2 events in the same week but “together we did it”. Thank you for your hard work - whakawhetai koe mo tou mahi pakeke. Particular thanks must go to Wendy & Mark and Alana & Adrian for opening their land for the bike ride and the many hours of work they put in in preparation for the big day. The staff (and no doubt parents/caregivers) were immensely proud of the Mokau Swimmers on Friday. What a fantastic effort from every student – placing or not you were all winners, including Martha who unfortunately didn’t get to swim at all – next year Martha! Looking forward, the students are going to have a couple of unique experiences before the end of term. The first is our Fonterra Ambassadors Farm Visit and the second is the prospect of experiencing ice skating in PioPio (still to be finalised). Regards Diane Scott te reo Māori: The phrase of the week is Kia mau ki te tamata Keep trying … Certificates Junior Student of the week: Anika for trying hard to make her writing interesting. Junior Star Student: Ruth for great participation in all areas of the curriculum. Senior Student of the week: Kayla for awesome ‘can do’ attitude and improvement in swimming. Senior Star Student: Claude for researching his ancestry using his interview skills.
