Schools required to provide information in regards to any students with preexisting medical conditions and their plan of action if required. All participants have
any emergency medication handy and available at the event. All teachers in charge
have access to medication. Qualified First Aid staff are onsite. 4 wheeler on course
throughout the event to transport First Aider to patient or vice versa.

medical kit. All participants with allergies to be advised of risk and to have any

Teachers in charge should know the ability/experience of their student’s prior to
the event. They need to ensure their athletes are adequately prepared for the event.
Safety zones marked off for participants and spectators. Clearly marked and taped
off areas for competing athletes only. Maps of the courses available prior to the
event.
Teachers in charge should ensure their athletes are prepared with their nutrition
and fluid for the day of the event. This forms part of the athlete’s training and
preparation to compete safely.

Teacher in charge needs to ensure their students are wearing appropriate clothing

A safety checklist is completed on the track prior to event and throughout the day. A
safety briefing pre-event will highlight any safety issues with the venue. Shoes are
recommended for the event.
Hazards due to wet conditions will be identified and included in event briefings.
The Event Safety Checklist will be completed pre-event and continually through the
day recognising any weather changes that may impact on the event. If the weather
is too bad for the event to begin, or continue, it will be cancelled.
Teachers in charge advised at the start of event to keep all children away from
carpark areas and to remain in the field areas at all times unless entering or exiting
a vehicle upon arrival and departure. Or unless with an adult.

All locations must be inspected prior to an activity/event taking place and an on the day checklist completed.
Comments:
Responding to an incident: Procedure for treatment for injuries: Minor will be treated on site with the assistance of Team Managers and/or Event Manager, and/or Qualified First Aider. In the unlikely event of a serious injury, the Event Manager will
assess the situation and an ambulance will be called, the patient kept calm and reassured, treat any symptoms, and continually monitor until help arrives. An incident form will be completed after the event and the incident investigated with a report given to
their manager. Staff must read and attach a copy of the relevant response plan for identified incidents.
