FOIL
1. In fiction, a foil (noun) is a character who contrasts with another character (usually the protagonist) in order
to highlight various features of that other character’s personality, throwing these characteristics into a sharper
focus.
juxtapose: to place two things close together or side by side, especially for comparison or contrast
Walker brings Dee home in order to juxtapose her with her sister Maggie.

differences between the two sisters. What explanation does the story offer for why two people from
