SAFETY The MINI HOIST complies with all safety standards set forth by the Internationally recognized
testing authorities of TÜV to the German standards, the DIN 15560 part 46 standards, and by UL
laboratories standards. These standards are directly associated with the safety of suspensions systems
mounted above an assembly of people. The safety features incorporated into the MINI HOIST include, a
dynamic self sustaining worm-geared set motor with a with screw helix angle less than 4 degrees to prevent
back winding in a dynamic or static position. Four independent stainless steel lifting cables, with the
breaking force of each wire rope being 2,149 lbs (977 kg). There are four Safety Micro Switches, one for
the top limit plus an extra emergency safety switch and one for the bottom limit, plus an extra emergency
safety switch. The Mini Hoist has both overload and slack line detection on each wire rope.
FLEXIBILITY The MINI HOIST is available in lengths of up to 10’ (3 meters). It is designed for either
fixed positions in Television, Stage or Architectural applications or as a Trackable Hoist System with the
ability to be moved into the set area via a tracks mounted to the sub-structure and running the length of the
studio. Because the MINI HOIST overall height is only 30 inches, it is ideal for Studio’s with grid heights as
low as 16 Feet. The Mini hoist can travel 35 feet (10.5 meters), carry up to 6 - 20 amp circuits and retract
to 30 inches. Using the Trackable Hoist System, not only can the hoists be moved into the set area but can
also be angled to conform to the angle of the set pieces for improved lighting positions.
MECHANICAL The mechanical design incorporates three elements; a motor compartment and diverter
pulley assembly pre-mounted to a rail, a connector strip that houses the load circuits, and either a pipe
batten or rail for hanging lighting instruments. The MINI HOIST is pre-wired and pre-assembled from the
factory making the installation an easy task. The special cable management system makes the load circuit
handling neat and easily managed when the hoist is raised or lowered.
OPERATIONAL The MINI HOIST is capable of lifting a (SWL) safe working load of 200lbs / 91 kg,
plus the self-weight of the hoist which is based on the travel distance and the optional features included.
The maximum travel distance is 35 feet / 10.5 meters.
OPTIONAL FEATURES The De Sisti MINI HOIST offers several unique optional features:
1. Positioning Control memorizes and recalls the position of each hoist recorded in preset.
2. DMX Up/Down and Positioning Control via a standard lighting control board or any
DMX control system
3. IGBT Silent Dimmers mounted in the hoists as part of the hoist system
SPECIFICTIONS
The De Sisti Rigging and Automation MINI HOIST shall be made up of three elements. The first element, the
motor compartment shall be a completely self contained enclosure and house a motorized winch drive unit of
monoblock design with dual cable lifting drums, limit and load sensing switches and terminals for both the
motor feed and control terminals. The second element is the diverter pulley section, which houses two diverter
pulleys and the load terminals for load circuit terminations. The motor and diverted pulley assemblies shall be
pre-mounted to a rail for easy handling and assembling. The third element shall be a combination of connector
strip, housing the outlets, circuit wiring and any accessory items such as DMX in/out, audio video outlets, three
phase outlets or IGBT Dimmers as specified and a 1.9 inch O.D. diameter schedule 40 pipe batten.
The motor assemble shall house a 450w 208 volt, 60 Hz 3-phase motor, integrated with a dynamic self
sustaining worm-geared set with a screw helix angle less than 4 degrees to prevent back winding in both a
dynamic, when the hoist is moving, or a static position. The maximum torque shall be 135 Nm, with permanent
lubrication.
The average lifting speed shall be 23’ per minute. The SWL (safe working load) shall be 200 lbs (91Kg), which
will vary depending on the travel distance. The maximum travel distance is 35’ (10.5 meters). It shall have four
independent galvanized steel lifting cables 3 mm. in diameter, constructed in 7 groups of 19 wires, with a
breaking force on each wire rope of at least 2,149 lbs (977 kg.). Hoists having only two lifting cables
shall not be accepted. Incorporated into the hoist system shall be cut out safety micro switches (double
All circuit protection panel boards, emergency contactors, three phase feed to the motors, control wiring and
load circuit wiring to the hoist shall be by others.
The entire device shall be DIN approved under section #15560 Part 46, (Worldwide Safety Standard for
overhead devices) be TÜV certified and carry the U.L. label approved as a complete system.
There are several Control Options offered by De Sisti.
• PBS Up /Down Push Button Control with (optional) remote control.
• HDC Digital Control System, for 12 or 24 channels with manual backup.
