AMENIT Y GUIDE
Main Campus | Fairview Hospital | Hillcrest Hospital | Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As Physician-in-Chief of Cleveland Clinic Children’s, and as a father,
I hold a steadfast commitment to our team’s “Patients First” focus.
I have been where you are, fearful about my child’s medical situation
and desperately hopeful for the best outcome. My promise to you
is that every pediatric caregiver on our team recognizes parents’
anxieties and concerns. We work tirelessly so you have the peace of
mind in knowing your child is in the best hands possible.
Putting your child and family first is our guiding light, our beacon
by which everyone at Cleveland Clinic Children’s delivers care.
Our team considers ourselves as your partner in caring for your child.
We are here to help you navigate through this very difficult medical
challenge. This guide serves as a resource, providing answers to
many of your hospital-stay questions so you can focus solely on
supporting your child.
Thank you for trusting our doctors, nurses and therapists to care for
your child. I welcome any feedback you may have on improving our
care. I also encourage you to recognize the caregivers providing your
child with world-class care and to share your interest if you wish to
become more involved with Cleveland Clinic Children’s.
Sincerely,
Giovanni Piedimonte, MD
Chairman, Cleveland Clinic Pediatric Institute
Physician-in-Chief, Cleveland Clinic Children’s
President, Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation

Music Therapy
Music Therapy, under the supervision of a board certified music therapist, combines music and
therapeutic techniques and aids in the physiological, psychological and emotional well-being of
the individual during treatment of an illness.
Music therapy may benefit hospitalized children by providing sensory stimulation, developmentally appropriate interaction, opportunities for self-expression and creativity, and positive coping skills
for hospitalization or illness. Patients may also experience a decrease in pain or anxiety or an
improvement in mood through participation in music therapy.
Music therapy sessions occur in patient rooms and family members are encouraged to participate.
Patients or family members may request music therapy by asking any member of the team to
place a referral in EPIC. Or for more information, dial ext. 49639 from a Cleveland Clinic phone.

Staying Overnight
We invite you to stay overnight anytime you wish. Having you there may help your child adjust.
Please talk to your child’s nurse in advance so that we can make you as comfortable as possible.
If two people wish to stay overnight, special arrangements can be made. Unfortunately, we cannot
accommodate children under the age of 18 staying overnight. If you choose to spend the night,
please help your child keep his/her usual bedtime. We also ask that you be out of bed and have
the room organized by 8 a.m., so that our staff can give morning care to your child. Showers are
available for parents; please ask your nurse.
If you are staying with your child overnight, a continental breakfast will be provided to you.
The structure of the Pain Rehabilitation Program does not support family members staying
overnight at the hospital.
Outside Appointments
During your stay at Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation, your child may have medical appointments at other facilities. We will provide transportation and encourage you to accompany your
child. There is usually room in the van for two family members. We will let you know in advance
the date and time of your child’s appointment.
Personal Belongings and Laundry
While the hospital can provide clothing, we realize your child may wish to wear his/her own
clothes. If so, please use permanent ink to label each item with your child’s name.
Washers and dryers are available.
Banking
An ATM is located at the outpatient entrance of the lower level of the Children’s Hospital
for Rehabilitation.
