You may ask them to contact the physician. If you are still concerned, you may activate the Pediatric Medical Evaluation Team (PMET) on Cleveland Clinic main campus. These critical response teams are staffed with medical specialists available to help your child and assist the main medical team when your child may be getting sicker and needs to be seen right away. To activate PMET, dial 122 on your room phone (you do not need to dial 9 first). Tell the operator: “I need the PMET to come to Room _____.” The PMET team will arrive within 5 minutes to assess your child. Please be prepared to tell the team about your concern. The team will talk with your primary medical team and help make decisions to manage your child’s care. Ronald McDonald Family Room Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are an extension of the Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland. A bit of home within the walls of a hospital, the Family Room is a brief respite for families to use while remaining merely steps away from their child’s bedside. Visitor’s Badging Adult visitors need to show a valid photo ID to enter the hospital after normal visiting hours. Visitors are given a badge that shows their name and photo, room destination and expiration date (extended badges are available). It must be worn on the outermost clothing. Visitors who are unable to provide ID will not be denied entrance once the visit is confirmed, but they will be photographed. The room is stocked with toys, books, games and movies for patient and family use. If patients are unable to visit the toy room, items are available for use at bedside. Pediatric Rapid Response If you are still concerned, you may activate the Pediatric Rapid Response. This critical response team is staffed with medical specialists available to help your child and assist the main medical team when your child may be getting sicker and needs to be seen right away. To activate the Pediatric Rapid Response team, parents may dial 88 from a patient room and inform the operator they “Need the Pediatric Rapid Response Team to room ____.” The Rapid Response Team will arrive within 5 minutes to assess your child. Please be prepared to tell the team about your concern. The team will talk with your child’s primary medical team and help make decisions to manage your child’s care. You may ask the nurse to contact your child’s physician. 27 Amenities & Dining Pet Therapy The Volunteer Services Office is pleased to offer Pet Therapy visits to patients. These dogs are in good health and certified as pet therapy dogs. If you would like a visit from one of our therapy dogs, please contact the Volunteer Department at extension 24631. If you are allergic to dogs, please notify your nursing staff so we can accommodate your needs. Patients or roommates with asthma and/or allergies, those in isolation and other patients so deemed by a medical professional will not be permitted to interact with the dogs. Security Parents or primary caregivers can stay with their child any time of the day or night. Visitors are welcome from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Please let your child’s nurse know when more than three people (including parents) wish to visit at the same time. On the day of admission we will ask that you make a list of people you wish to visit your child so that only those you wish to visit may do so. Brothers and sisters of patients are welcome to visit during regular visiting hours. Visitors under the age of 14 require adult supervision. Having you there may help your child adjust. Please talk to your child’s nurse in advance so that we can make you as comfortable as possible. If two people wish to stay overnight, special arrangements can be made. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate children under the age of 18 staying overnight. If you choose to spend the night, please help your child keep his/her usual bedtime. We also ask that you be out of bed and have the room organized by 8 a.m., so that our staff can give morning care to your child. Showers are available for parents; please ask your nurse. If you are staying with your child overnight, a continental breakfast will be provided to you. The structure of the Pain Rehabilitation Program does not support family members staying overnight at the hospital. Outside Appointments During your stay at Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation, your child may have medical appointments at other facilities. We will provide transportation and encourage you to accompany your child. There is usually room in the van for two family members. We will let you know in advance the date and time of your child’s appointment. Personal Belongings and Laundry While the hospital can provide clothing, we realize your child may wish to wear his/her own clothes. If so, please use permanent ink to label each item with your child’s name. Washers and dryers are available. Banking An ATM is located at the outpatient entrance of the lower level of the Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation. 32 Spiritual Services We have a chaplain on staff to provide spiritual guidance and nondenominational worship services in the hospital. We also offer a quiet meditation room where you can go to rest, pray or meditate. A prayer request book is kept in the meditation room. Mail Children enjoy receiving mail!
