A day to celebrate the research of Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry William Harvey Day St Bartholomew’s Hospital, West Smithfield Tuesday 26 October 2010 Invitation Message from the Warden, Professor Sir Nicholas Wright You are cordially invited to William Harvey Day which will take place on Tuesday 26 October 2010. William Harvey Day will showcase some of the best cutting edge research currently underway in Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry and in our partner NHS Trusts. There will be nine presentations by School researchers, as well as three science “hot topics” presented by leading researchers who have recently joined the School and two undergraduate prize winners. We are delighted that this year’s guest lectures will be given by Sir Tim Hunt FRS, Nobel Laureate and principal researcher at the Cancer Research UK Clare Hall Laboratories, Professor Sir Mark Walport, Director of the Wellcome Trust and Professor Marcus du Sautoy, Professor for the Public Understanding of Science and Professor of Mathematics from the University of Oxford. The day will conclude with the Barts and The London NHS Trust’s traditional annual St Luke’s-tide Service in the church of St Bartholomew-the-Great and a subscription dinner at the nearby Butchers’ Hall. I would make a special request for you to attend the Service, as it really is imperative we have a good attendance to preserve this traditional and very enjoyable component of the day. All the lectures and presentations will be in the Morris Lecture Theatre in the Robin Brook Centre. The poster display, lunch, coffee and tea will be in the Great Hall of St Bartholomew’s Hospital and the Pathology Museum. I very much hope that you will be able to join us for some or all of the day, and ask that you return the registration form attached by Monday 18 October 2010 or book online at www.qmul.ac.uk/events.
