CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS WORKSHOP
It seems early to talk about Christmas (HAPPY
THANKSGIVING) but the Children's Workshop
is scheduled for Saturday, December 8. So
please put that date on your calendar. Many of
you have worked the workshop in the past and
know what a delightful time we have in this
intergenerational event. Please let Margaret
Young or Pat Khoury know if you are once
again available to help. We need workers for
the projects and also volunteers to make 2(two)
dozen cookies. We have projects ready but
need willing hands and smiling faces!
Also, don't forget that you must attend the
Ministry Safe workshop on Saturday, November
17 to be able to continue helping with children
and youth events. Let Heidi or Dawn know if
can come for that training. Thanks for your
giving, sharing, and loving spirit. Chapel Hill is
blessed to have you. Share a blessing this
week and write a note to someone who has
been meaningful in your life.

Our Growth as Christians
Galatians 2:20
There’s a goal to the Christian life, which God expresses this way: “For
those whom He foreknew. He also predestined to become conformed
to the image of His Son” (Rom. 8:29). This refining process is called
sanctification. And there are several identifiable stages en route to
this goal, but sadly, most believers are unfamiliar with them. Let’s look
at some definitions so you can identify where you are on the journey
and understand what to expect.
Salvation is the first stage of the Christian life. This describes our
redemption from sinfulness through Jesus’ atoning sacrifice. Which
results in forgiveness of sin, which lets us have a relationship with
Almighty God.
Next, God gives us opportunity to serve (Eph. 2:10). We were
created to do good works in Jesus’ name.
But at some point, we notice something isn’t working. This is the start
to stage three: frustrated inadequacy. This unpleasant but
necessary part of the journey can last varying amounts of time.
Without it, we’d undoubtedly experience self-sufficiency and pride. But
we should recognize this difficult phase as beautiful because it leads us
into the best part of our spiritual lives: total dependency upon Jesus
as Lord of our life. And we will be fulfilling our ultimate goal:
becoming a reflection of Christ.
Sadly, many Christians don’t reach a point of complete reliance on the
Lord. Pride, discouragement, and distraction can ruin focus and
perseverance. Paul reminds us to fix our eyes on the goal of maturity
in Christ (Phil.3:14). Learning to die to self is painful, but ironically,
it’s the only true way to life.

Before the weather turns cold, clean out that garage! It's
almost time to put up your Christmas lights, so while you
are going through those boxes, be sure to set aside any
unwanted items to donate for the UMYF Christmas Sale!
Bring holiday items to the Boy Scout room at the end of
the adult SS hallway for storage. The sale will take
place in the CHUMC parking lot December 1.
This is the last week to donate art supplies or frames for
the Stewpot's art program. They especially
appreciate donations of yarn and acrylic paints.
CHUMC Youth will be delivering the items next
week.

[email protected] to request the link. If you
want to watch the video at the church then just show up at

you have watched the video by Saturday then you may
come in at 9:30 for the second part of the training. This will
be about our Chapel Hill policies and procedures. You will
be able to ask specific questions at that time. If you need
any help with the paperwork, Heidi and Dawn will be
available. No matter which time you come on Saturday,
please bring your packet with you. If you are unable to
come on this Saturday, then complete the paperwork and
online training and we will be in touch with you about a later
date for you to attend training. Thank you so much for being
a valued member of our Chapel Hill volunteers. This church
is awesome because of you.

3 different kinds of chocolate chips); Heavenly Brownies
(unbelievably fantastic); Pumpkin-Cranberry Muffins
(another crowd favorite); Pet Treats (easy and very popular
with the canine set). And new this year is a handy little

have you even part of the time. Contact Margaret Young for Dec.
15th or Melanie Willhite for Dec. 3rd. It is a really fun evening and
