ACTS, 1968. — CHAPS. 187, 188: Chap. 187. 137 A N ACT INCREASING THE AMOUNT OF HOME IMPROVEMENT LOANS "WHICH MAT BE MADE BY CO-OPERATIVE BANKS. Be it enacted, etc., as follows: Subsection 6 of section 26 of chapter 170 of the General Laws, as amended by chapter 100 of the acts of 1963, is hereby further amended by striking out, in line 9, the word "twenty-five" and inserting in place thereof the word: — thirty-five. Approved April 23, 1968. Chap. 188. A N ACT AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES BY HOTELS AND RESTAURANTS ON SUNDAYS AND CERTAIN LEGAL HOLIDAYS STARTING AT TWELVE O'CLOCK NOON. Be it enacted, etc., as follows: SECTION 1. Section 33 of chapter 138 of the General Laws is hereby amended by striking out the second sentence, as amended by chapter 323 of the acts of 1967, and inserting in place thereof the following sentence: — No holder of a tavern license shall sell any alcoholic beverages on Sundays, no other licensee under section twelve shall sell any such beverages on Sundays between one o'clock antemeridian and twelve o'clock noon, in any county other than Suffolk no licensee under section twelve shall sell any such beverages on Christmas day or May thirtieth, or on the day following when either of said days occurs on Sunday, between one o'clock antemeridian and twelve o'clock noon, and in Suffolk county no licensee under said section twelve shall sell any such beverages on Christmas day or on May thirtieth, or on the day following, when either of said days occurs on Sunday, between two o'clock antemeridian and twelve o'clock noon, no registered pharmacist acting under section twenty-nine and no licensee under section thirty A shall sell any alcoholic beverages or alcohol without a prescription on Sundays or legal holidays, no licensee under section fifteen shall sell or deliver any alcoholic beverages on Sundays or on May thirtieth, Thanksgiving day or Christmas day or on the day following when May thirtieth or Christmas day occurs on Sunday, or on any other legal holiday before one o'clock postmeridian and no licensee under any other section of this chapter for the sale of alcoholic beverages not to be drunk on the premises shall sell or deliver any such beverages or alcohol on Sundays or legal holidays. SECTION 2. Chapter 24 of the acts of 1968 is hereby amended by striking out section 6 and inserting in place thereof the following section: — Section 6. Approved April 23, 1968. Chap. 189. A N A C T PROVIDING THAT THE CHAIRMEN OF CERTAIN AD- V I S O R Y COUNCILS IN THE DEPARTMENT OP MENTAL HEALTH SHALL BE ELECTED BY AND FROM THE COUNCIL. Be it enacted, etc., as follows: SECTION 1. Section 11 of chapter 19 of the General Laws, as appearing in section 1 of chapter 735 of the acts of 1966, is hereby amended by striking out the fourth sentence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence: — The council shall annually or upon a vacancy elect a chairman from its members. SECTION 2. Section 12 of said chapter 19, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the fourth sentence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence: — The council shall annually or upon a vacancy elect a chairman from its members. Approved April 23, 1968. Chap. 190. A N ACT FURTHER REGULATING THE SALE OF CERTAIN MOTOR VEHICLES LEFT IN PUBLIC GARAGES. Be it enacted, etc., as follows: The fifth paragraph of section 39A of chapter 255 of the General Laws, as appearing in chapter 585 of the acts of 1954, is hereby amended by striking out the first two sentences and inserting in place thereof the following two sentences::— If, after the expiration of ninety days from the date when the vehicle was brought to the garage or placed in the care of the owner of said garage, the owner of the motor vehicle has not claimed said vehicle, the owner of the garage may give notice to the owner by registered mail at his last known place of abode stating the amount of the storage charges and informing him that if the vehicle is not claimed within twenty-one days the vehicle will be sold. If the owner does not claim the vehicle within said twenty-one days, the owner of the garage may sell said motor vehicle at public or private sale after publishing notice of such sale for three successive weeks in a newspaper published or having a circulation in the city or town in which the property is located; provided that he shall notify the chief of police in the city or town in which the garage is located at least five days prior to such sale that the vehicle is to be sold.
