KINDERGARTEN NEWS
Kindergarten students will continue to work on
letter naming, phonemic awareness, and connecting
letters to sounds in Language Arts. Comprehension
skills will target settings, main ideas and realism
and fantasy. We will continue learning about
numbers in Math. We will classify and count data
also. The Raising a Reader Program has begun!
Please look for the red bags each week. Enjoy
reading and looking at the beautiful books
together.
The Kindergarten Team
Happy Fall! October is a busy month for the second
graders. In ELA we are learning about character
traits, main idea and details, irregular plural nouns
and collective nouns. In Math we will continue to
practice place value skills and addition and
subtraction word problems. In science, the children
will have a visit from the MWRA this month to learn
about water resources in our community as well as a
visit from the Saugus River Watershed Council to
learn about animal habitats.
The Second Grade Team ☺
GRADE ONE NEWS
Our first graders are learning about the seasons
and weather in Science this trimester. We are also
preparing for our Veterans Day assembly on
November 3rd.
In math, we continue to work on addition and
subtraction math facts and problem solving.
We want to remind you to read with your child 1520 minutes each night and limit TV watching and
non-educational video games. Don’t forget to fill in
your reading log every night!

MS. JOHNSON’S CLASS
We are looking forward to baking apples and study
the seed of the apple. Also, we are working on our
letters and sounds so that reading and writing
really begins to flourish. In Math, we are
continuing to work on addition and will be moving
into subtraction soon. The students are continuing
to grow both independently and academically.
Ms. Johnson, Ms. Sandi and Mrs. Perno
GRADE THREE NEWS
This month the third grade is continuing to learn
about multiplication and division. It is very
important the third graders are studying their
multiplication and division facts every night for at
least twenty minutes. Multiplication facts can be
practiced with flash cards, writing out facts on
paper, or you can quiz your children by stating facts
and having them answer. The third grade teachers
are starting something new with our students this
year in math, Number Talks. Ask your third grader
about Number Talks! Please make sure your children
are studying their Spelling list each week for the
weekly spelling test. Lastly, all three third grade
classes will have the Classroom Spelling Bee on
Friday, October 14.
Thank you for your continued support,

GRADE FOUR NEWS
As the days start to get colder, please make sure
that the students are dressed appropriately for
the cooler morning weather. Remember that
sweaters and sweatshirts that will be worn in the
classroom need to adhere to the school uniform
code. We will be working on multiplication for
math, so study your math facts! We will be working
on finding key ideas and details as we read and
then using those ideas and details as we write our
open responses.

MATH FACTS
An addition, subtraction, or multiplication math
fact is a math question such as 3 + 4, 6 - 2, or 8 x
5. If a child can say the answer within a couple of
seconds, this is considered mastery of the fact.
Help your child to master math facts!
Susan Ross and Renee Ward
Dear Parents,
The fifth grade is full steam ahead and
working hard. In math our focus has been on place
value and will be working on learning the standard
algorithm for multiplication. We hope you are
taking advantage of the Pearson Realize and Achieve
3000 online programs that you can access at home.
In science we will be learning to study Earth
Science: rocks and minerals and weather. In Social
Studies we will be starting Native Americans and
Explorers.
We appreciate your help in creating accountability
with your student to complete their homework daily.
Just a friendly reminder, you can check their
grades through Power School.
Thank you,
The Fifth Grade

PTO News
Our PTO is all about the children of our school.
We welcome as much help and support from
everyone in our school community that you can
offer. Parent involvement is a key factor for our
children, teachers and administration to prosper.
The Paul Revere School PTO has created a Facebook
Group to keep everyone informed and also have a
place to have information and documents that will
be helpful for parents to download. We have also
implemented a calendar on the page for all the
yearly events that have been planned and will update
them as events are scheduled. This page is a new
Innovative idea for us and we are always looking for
input at our monthly meetings. Please visit
the Facebook Group: Paul Revere Innovation
School PTO and ask to join.
We are also trying to implement parent classroom
leaders for each class. For more information
