Fluorsid acquires Boliden aluminium fluoride business
Milan, 6 October 2016 Fluorsid S.p.A. - Sardinian chemical company controlled by FluorsidGroup - has
reached an agreement with the Scandinavian Boliden group, which operates in the minerals and metals
industries, for the acquisition of Noralf company, operating in the aluminum fluoride and synthetic anhydrite
markets. The Noralf production facilities are located in Odda, Norway, within a metallurgical center of Boliden
for zinc production. With this operation Fluorsid strengthens its leadership in the aluminum fluoride sector
and its presence in the Northern European markets.
Fluorsid S.p.A., established in 1969 in Cagliari industrial zone, is the world leader in the market of inorganic
fluorochemicals for the aluminium industry, with an annual capacity of over 100,000 tonnes of aluminium
fluoride and synthetic cryolite, sold all over the world. Aluminium fluoride is an essential raw material for
primary aluminium production.
Purchase price of Noralf is 12.5 million euros. A long-term agreement was simultaneously signed regarding
the sale of sulphuric acid to Fluorsid and concerning the services related to Noralf plant. The operation

closing is expected on December 31 , 2016.
