Bernie Keary
Hello All ~ July is finally here, which means Regatta time! I hope everyone is ready to have fun the way
only pirates do. Great job to everyone involved in opening the pool. It took a while, but it looks great.
Thanks to the three members who offered to become a mentor to our new members. This is a great way to
show them the ropes. A little about Regatta ~ for our boat parade, I am inviting all current members who
are Past Commodores to dress in their whites and be part of the parade on several other boats. This would
be a nice showing for our 50th Anniversary Regatta. See you all at Shipwreck Cove.
Vice Commodore’s Comments
Larry Schwenk
Hi All ~ Hurray! The pool is open for your enjoyment. Thanks to all who helped with the painting, filling,
plumbing and heater. We even had an assist from our neighbor, Chris Auhn. By the time you read this, I
am sure we will have had another successful Len Anderson-Dean Palmer Day. Hope to see you all at the
Father's Day Cookout following Dock Bidding on June 21st.
Rear Commodore’s Comments
Gayle Feldman
Hi Everyone ~ Just a reminder that Thursday is the day the landscapers come; please make sure all of your
belongings are off the grass so they can cut easily around your areas. Also, with Regatta right around the
corner, I would like to make sure the grounds look great. I am planning to clean up around the grounds
during the week of July 6, so if anyone is interested in work hours, let me know. I'm sure I can find
something for you to do!!
Fleet Captain’s Comments
Dale Cover
With the first of our two planned cruises behind us we can start to look forward to our trip to Vermillion. We
will be heading to Vermillion Boat Club on August 14 thru 16. Vermillion Boat Club does not have space for
all of us, so some will have to dock at McGarvey’s Landing. I am certain that VBC can find room for a
couple boats if someone can’t walk from McGarvey’s to the VBC. Dock fees will be $1.75 per “fooj” (if you
went to Geneva you get the fooj). VBC will, however, allow us to use their facilities for a mere $4 per day. In
addition to using their facilities, we have been invited to attend their rib cook-off on Saturday evening.
Reservation information and phone numbers will be posted on the bulletin board in the Clubhouse.
If you know of anyone who wishes to visit our Club by boat during Regatta weekend, please let me know in
writing so I can try to maximize available space and assign temporary docks accordingly.

Sunshine Report

P/C Mike Polovic underwent shoulder surgery a few weeks ago. The damage was more extensive than
anticipated. Mike is having a slow and long recovery. I'm sure he would enjoy cards to brighten his day. A
card and cookies were sent. He thanks the Club for thinking of him.
Margo and Larry Schwenk celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 12. Congratulations on a
half century! Now they belong to a "special club" along with the Kromar’s, Schaffer’s and LCYC!
Ray & Carol Koeth’s daughter, Karen Koeth-Szmania, is an interior designer. This year she was chosen to
do a room in the Lake County YMCA Dream House. She was given the formal dining room in the house.
We are proud of the look and design of the room.
Don't forget to send me the latest happenings and Happy Father's Day to all LCYC fathers!
LCYC 50th Anniversary Celebration
Commodore, Bearnie Keary
and Stan Meeks
Saturday, June 27 was the 50th Anniversary Celebration of LCYC. The event was well attended, the food
was great and everyone had a good time. We’d like to thank everyone who helped in any way and we’d like
to give a special thank-you to Al Dubeansky for going above and beyond. He worked tirelessly for two
straight days to make sure the food was perfect for this event. The entire Club appreciates your efforts, Al.

Since July is a busy time for the Club, we thought it would be a nice idea to cook breakfast in the Clubhouse
on Sunday mornings in July. We will be offering traditional breakfasts and hope to add something a little
different each week. This is something new and we are still sorting the details. Watch for more info soon.

Regatta Committee
P/C Chris & Ellie Chalko
It’s Regarrrta Time! Thank you everyone who has volunteered to help with Regatta weekend. Committees
are nearly filled, but there are still opportunities to help make the weekend fun. Please consider a
sponsorship opportunity of money, gift and/or time. The attached flyer provides details. Everyone should
have received Regatta tickets by now. If you do not have yours, please contact the Chalko’s so that we can
get them to you. T-Shirts are by pre-order this year. The attached flyer provides details; T-shirt orders are
due by June 30th.
A detailed program will be delivered to everyone prior to the event. We are looking forward to a great
weekend of music, food, fun and PIRATES!
Len Anderson/Dean Palmer Day
P/C John Kromar
Well, another successful Anderson-Palmer Day has come and gone. The exact years that LCYC and Blue
Gavel has hosted this event is a little fuzzy, but it is approximately 37-38 years. Our track record is pretty
good as we have yet to drop one wheelchair while loading them into the boats. Seriously though, many
members have helped over the years and this year was no exception. On behalf of myself, Diane, Jerry and
all the clients and families of The Society for Rehabilitation, a big 'Thank You' to all who were able to help
again this year. You are exceptional, caring people.
It was overcast with a promise of rain, but we managed to get everyone out for a boat ride. The river had
more than its share of logs and branches to dodge, but the lake was flat. Thanks to Dawn Brewer and Larry
Schwenk for the use of their boat, along with mine. The food was delicious and plentiful, thanks to the
kitchen crew and cooks, and of course, thanks to our experienced (another word for older) boat loading
crew that fortunately didn't pull any muscles this year.
There are a lot of names I could list but members that help in these events don't look for recognition. You
know who you are, just as other also do, so you all get one more big THANKS.
