OUTBOARD CYLINDER
GROUNDING STRAP
Part # HA5477
The Grounding Strap Kit is designed to provide added protection
against corrosion caused by stray current. This is designed for
use on SeaStar and BayStar front mounting outboard cylinders.
Crimping Details
SeaStar Slide Cylinders
1.Using figures A, B & C determine your style of steering cylinder.
2.Measuring from the large hole, crimp terminal as per the length
noted next to your cylinder style. Crimp terminal to ground strap
using pliers.

Installation Procedure
NOTICE
Cylinder does NOT need to be
removed from engine to perform
the following steps.

1.Install ground strap to cylinder as per figures D and E.
2.Reinstall cylinder and support rod nuts, torque to the following
i Cylinder shaft nut = 33 ft-lbs.
ii Support rod shaft nut = 45 ft-lbs.
3.Attach loose end of ground strap to a good, clean and tight
ground location on the engine power head or mid-section.
4.Ensure there is enough slack in the strap to allow the engine
to pivot freely in ALL trim/tilt positions, throughout the entire
steering range of the engine.
5.SeaStar Solutions recommends the ground strap is secured
using zap straps to prevent a tripping or hang-up hazard.
There MUST be enough slack to allow full steering articulation
in all trim/tilt positions.
