LEAP Alumni Monthly Newsletter

LEAP Alumni Monthly Newsletter
June is a special time at LEAP Academy. For the 12th year in a row, LEAP will be
graduating 100% of its seniors, who will go on to college! The highlights of the
graduating class include:
Over $3 million in academic and merit based scholarship offers from four year colleges and
universities, marking the second consecutive year that the LEAP graduating cohort has
reached the $3 million threshold.
Marks the very first High School of Business Academy graduating cohort, which is a
selective and prestigious academic academy within LEAP that has ushered students
through rigorous and competitive pre-business coursework accredited through the Bowling
Green University School of Business
Marks the first time a LEAP scholar has been accepted into an international undergraduate
program, with two graduating seniors (Eniya Ball and Natahzja Sewell) being accepted into
the Hult International Business School, with global campuses in London and San Francisco
The graduation takes place on Monday, June 27 at Rutgers-Camden with keynote speaker Susan
Story, President and Chief Executive Officer of American Water Company.
Two LEAP seniors have extended their baking and musical talents into their college careers! Nolly
Torres will be baking away at the Art Institute of Philadelphia and Rhadir Jones will be drumming
his way through the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.
Nolly has excelled at baking cakes inspired by feelings.
Inspired by her grandmother, the art of making is all about how
you feel. If you add color to the cake, you are more happy. She
hopes to open her own bakery one day in Puerto Rico, where
her family is from. Look for her on Cake Boss one of these
days.
Rhadir is a drummer extraordinaire! He taught himself since he
was 2 years old and hasn't stopped since. The metronome in
his head, as he explains, keeps him going and perfecting his
craft. He performs regularly at his church and local social
places, including the former Arts Garage in Philadelphia. He
wants to open his own music school to teach kids how to read
music.
Congratulations to Nolly, Rhadir, and everyone in the
Class of 2016!

LEAP Alumnus Joshua Hernandez Building
His Career - Literally!
My experience at LEAP was one to be remembered. I had the best
instructors guiding me every step of the way. When I thought about
giving up, they pushed me to exceed expectations; I could not ask
for a better school. I am now a general contractor, a building
engineer, and a small business owner. I own a small business
called Joshua's Home Remodeling; it is a commercial and residential
based company. We remodel and make any repair in schools,
apartments, homes and more.
I graduated LEAP in 2011 with an amazing group of students. My
favorite subject at LEAP had to be history, just the knowledge I
gained from knowing the past still intrigues me. After LEAP
Academy, I attended multiple schools, internships, and became an
apprentice for a union. I worked very long days, and I worked for free
in many occasions just to get the knowledge I needed to start my
Joshua Hernandez in his
own business. I now have a plethora of certifications and licenses
office
that help me stand out in front of my competition. LEAP Academy
provided me with the tools I needed to grow, and helped me realize that I can reach any goal I set
for myself.
I will always be a part of LEAP Academy, and I extend my gratitude to all the teachers who are
committed to what they do. The experience there helped me prepare not only for college, but it
helped me plan ahead, and gear towards starting my own business. My business website is
Joshuashomeremodeling.com and I can be reached at 1-800-956-7132. The hours of operation are
6 am till 6 pm. I cannot thank LEAP enough for helping me in the process.
