Anti Bullying Week:
Our anti bullying week took place from January 18th to 21st. Our theme this year was “Watch me
Shine”. It was extremely successful and the students participated in various workshops and

and a video put together by our grade 6 students!
Transition to High School Workshops
In January we started our Transition to High School workshops for our grade 6 students.
These workshops are being lead by Sharon Klar from Bartimaeus.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week- February 8th-12th, 2016
This special week is set aside to show our appreciation to all our staff at Cedarcrest
School. I would like to express a heartfelt appreciation to our truly outstanding staff! We cannot
thank you enough for all that you do for our students every day!
Winter Weather Reminder
Fresh winter air is very healthy for our students! Unless the temperature is unreasonable,
the students will be going outside for playtime at recess and lunch recess. Please ensure that your
child comes to school with appropriate winter attire. The following items are mandatory: winter
jacket, snow pants, winter boots, hats, and mittens/gloves. Your children will be able to play
and stay healthy and warm!
Dress Up Day
In celebration of the day of love, together with our Home & School, we will be having a
dress up day on Friday, February 12th, 2016. Students can come to school wearing red or pink
and donate a toonie. All the monies raised will benefit our students!
Carnival Week
Carnival Week at Cedarcrest will be taking place the week of February 22nd! Here is what
we have planned for the students:
Feb. 22: School wide outing to go tubing! Please arrive on time as busses depart at 8:15 a.m. 
Feb. 23-24: Activities will take place in school during the day both indoors and outdoors in our
school yard.
Feb. 25: All students will be treated to a free pizza lunch (Le Doral) and peanut free snowman
cookie and drink compliments of Cedarcrest School. Please note that if you had ordered a hot
meal on that day, your account will be credited.
The students will be watching a movie related to winter activities in the gymnasium.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Please note that on Thursday, February 25th, 2016 from 3:00-5:30 p.m. and from 6:309:00 p.m. we will be having our second Parent Teacher Interviews. This session is by invitation.

Spring Break
Spring Break takes place from Monday, February 29th to Friday, March 4th, 2016. Enjoy
the week off with your children! A reminder that there is no daycare service during the March
Break. Classes will resume on Monday, March 7th, 2016.
A word from your Home and School chair…..
All our classes were replenished with awesome books from Chapters. A total of almost
$5.000.00 was spent on dictionaries, chapter books, other reading material and games. The
teachers and students were all extremely happy.
Just a reminder that next week is Teachers Appreciation Week. We are getting ready for
our annual chocolate drive to start after March break. A letter will be sent shortly with additional
information. The profits of this chocolate drive will be supporting our Robotics Program. Have
a great and safe break with your families!
