Aviva and RedArc
When you choose Aviva to provide your Group Critical
Illness cover and/or Group Cancer cover you need to
be sure that we’ll be there for your employees and
their families when it matters most. By adding RedArc
services as part of this cover, you can count on us to provide
practical advice and emotional support.
Providing a
value-added
service at no
extra cost
Group Cancer Cover is provided and underwritten by Friends Life Limited, part of the
Aviva group.
Why RedArc?
When one of your employees or a member of their family, is diagnosed with a critical
illness it’s a really worrying time for everyone involved. They may hear terms they’ve
never heard before and they may feel things they’ve never felt before. This can be
made all the more difficult if they don’t get the help they need.
With only limited time in a typical medical appointment, chances are they will come
away filled with anxiety, simply because they haven’t had time to discuss everything.
So it’s really important they get the chance to ask any questions they’ve got.
That’s why we now provide access to RedArc’s services. A personal nurse adviser can
give your employee, or their family member, guidance on – and help make the most
of – what’s available from the mainstream health services.
“Thank you very much. It’s great to
have somebody wanting to help me as
it is difficult coming to terms with this
new diagnosis as well as coping with
family life and doctors appointments”

The RedArc service
Using RedArc’s services
Getting support to suit your employees and their family members
We’re offering RedArc’s services to all of our Group Critical Illness and Group Cancer
Cover policyholders. We understand that it can be very difficult for anyone to talk about
their critical illness, so your employees or their family members do not have to talk to RedArc
straight away. They don’t have to talk to them at all. It’s entirely up to them.
We know from the thousands of claims we get that everyone deals with a diagnosis
differently, taking varying amounts of time to adjust to the news. So when a claim is
made for a critical illness or cancer (including children’s critical illness or cancer), we will
provide you with details of how to contact RedArc, so your employees or their family
members can speak to a personal nurse adviser when they feel ready.
During the call, RedArc will take some information from your employee or their
family member and assign them to a qualified and registered personal nurse adviser.
Each personal nurse adviser has first hand experience in looking after people with
critical illnesses.
Because critical illnesses can affect different people in different ways, your
employee or their family member may want to speak to someone who
understands their condition and can help allay their fears. By using personal
nurse advisers, RedArc offers exactly that.
When your employee or their family member talks to RedArc, everything they say is
completely confidential. RedArc will not pass any information to us. And because the
personal nurse adviser only deals with them over the phone, there’s no unnecessary
embarrassment. So they will be able to talk freely about anything and everything.
If your employee or their family member decides to use
RedArc, everything they need will be in one place. They’ll have
one point of contact – their personal nurse adviser – who
brings all the services together.
RedArc’s services are non-contractual benefits. This means we could withdraw them at any time.
The personal nurse adviser will:
• Take the time to understand your employee’s or their family member’s diagnosis and
talk to them about what they’re going through.
All RedArc services are available at no extra cost, however travel, accommodation or private
treatment costs are not included.
• Listen to any worries they may have and answer any questions.
Depending on their needs, the personal nurse adviser may arrange anything from
specialist nurse home visits to therapy and counselling. That way, they also can make
sure your employee or their family member gets a service that is tailored to their
individual circumstances.
And the best thing is there’s no expiry date on the relationship; the personal nurse
adviser will be there for as long as they are needed.
Getting the right answers
The personal nurse adviser will make it easier for your employee or their family
member to get the answers they need. Having the extra time to talk to someone
means they have the chance to gather their thoughts. They can think about what it is
they really need to know. Then the personal nurse adviser will help your employee or
their family member prepare questions to ask their consultant or doctor, putting them
back in control.
