Halloween Scare
By Sydney Stauffer. Halloween is right
around the corner! The “number one
haunted house in the country,” Indy
Scream Park, is in Anderson, Indiana.
Indy Scream Park has a total of five
haunts. There are three haunts that
are inside and two haunts that are
outside. The inside haunts are called
Brickmore Asylum, Bedlam 3D, and
Nachtmahr. Infected and Backwoods
are the outdoor attractions. Also, Indy
Scream Park has a Monster Midway
where you can buy food and drinks,
play games, keep
warm by the fire,
and you can even
get your picture
taken with the
creepy actors that
hangout in the Monster Midway!
Tickets are available on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday for $25
per ticket. On Friday or Saturday the
price for a ticket is $30. A $3 ticket
discount is available when ordering

‘Nightmare on Edgewood’
haunted house was made;
it’s located on 6004 Camden Street Indianapolis,
IN. This haunted house

years, Nightmare on Edgewood was ran by Edgewood little league as their
main fundraiser. Later in

Melton. The Belzer Blog has covered the Enter virus D68 before,
but since then the conditions have
worsened. Five child deaths have
been linked with this virus since
late September, and it has sent
more kids to the hospital with
breathing problems as it spread
across 43 states and some Canadian territories. Majority of the vic-

breathing problems.
Adults don’t get this virus, but
they can still carry and spread it.
So they should take precautionary actions too. This Enter virus
has been found to cause paralysis and limb weakness. Scientists have predicted
this virus’ season will end sometime in the late fall.

OPINION: Ebola Costumes--Poor Taste?
By Jalen Pannell. Monsters and the undead still rule Halloween, but we all know that’s fake. However, the Ebola crisis
is real. A new trending costume is selling for $79.00 and is
flying off the shelves. It is the Ebola costume. It comes with
a complete white suit emblazoned with “Ebola,” a face
shield, breathing mask, safety glasses, and blue latex gloves.
This may be the best selling costume of the year. But is it
fun or cruel? The idea of
making fun of Ebola for
Halloween is “a little much
for a Halloween costume,”

starting to be banned in schools
because they have been sending
kids to the ER; in addition, they
have been skipping meals because they have been eating
Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. Students
were also spreading germs
through sharing and making a
mess for janitors with orange finger prints all over the
schools.
Doctors also warned some concerned parents were taking their kids to emergency rooms because the dyes in
the snacks were mistaken for blood in the stool. Several
school districts in New Mexico, California, and Illinois
have made the move to ban the snacks from their campuses because they lack nutritional value. The good news
is that new nutrition laws are changing what can be sold
New Cancer Treatment Findings
By Katie Allen and Sydney Stauffer.
Robotics Engineer, Park Jong-oh, and
a team of researchers at Chonnam
University have created a possible
cancer treatment that they say will
minimize the effects of chemotherapy. They created a nanobot that
attacks the cancer cells by injecting
the cells with genetically modified,
non-toxic, salmonella molecules,
then with cancer fighting drugs. The
injection does not harm any healthy
surrounding cells, and the bots are
less than one, one-hundredth of a
millimeter in size.
The first successful
trial for the nanotechnology on cancer was done on
mice in 2013. Park’s
company is hoping
to begin human trials in the near future. Others have
also been researching this technology, a group from the
University of Illinois have reported
success using nanotechnology to
inject cancer cells with a substance
similar to rattlesnake venom. Com-
panies are hoping to introduce
this treatment to doctors and test
on patients soon, for now they
will keep testing their products
until they are perfected for humans.

North Korea Releases American
By Shelby Wheeler. The famous “31 ” is approaching, and many have plans
for the celebratory night. Even if you don’t observe Halloween, don’t partake in trick-or-treating, or just want to stay home, you can still commemorate the holiday by watching one of the numerous horror movies aired in
the fall season. Here are some of my recommendations.
Child’s Play (or Chucky) is a classic 1988 slasher horror film about Charles
Lee Ray, (also known as the “Lakeshore Strangler”), who transferred his
soul into a “Good Guy” doll via a voodoo ritual in a ploy to avoid judgment
in the afterlife. The film generated five sequels, including Child’s Play 2,
Child’s Play 3, Bride of Chucky, Seed of Chucky, and Curse of Chucky. While
the franchise began as outright horror, the later films adopted elements of
horror comedy.
Paranormal Activity is a 2007 supernatural horror film about Katie and
Micah, a young couple who move into a new house. However, not long
after they move in, strange, seemingly supernatural occurrences begin to
happen about the house. The ongoing film series currently consists of five movies, inclusive
of Paranormal Activity 2, Paranormal Activity
3, Paranormal Activity 4, and Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones.
Insidious, also a supernatural horror film, is
about a couple’s son who mysteriously becomes torpid and lethargic. They later find that
he has been possessed by ghosts. This 2010
film is reminiscent of 1982’s Poltergeist.

Serial Killer In Gary, Indiana

85 year old man on Tuesday October 21. Jeffrey
Fowle, one of three American captives in North
Korea, is now coming back home to United
States after his two arrests. He is now back at
home with his family in Ohio. Earlier this year,
Fowle was arrested in May. Fowle pleaded for
U.S help during the CNN’s interview for what
his situation in the last month’s detention.
Kenneth Bae, who was another captive, was
sentenced to 15 years of hard labor in 2013.

Next In Line To Be Killed By ISIS
By Matthew Anderson. AbdulRahman Kassig, known as Peter

won 10 matches and lost only 8. They
won against Eastern Hancock MS, Raymond park MS, Fishers Jr. High, Perry
Meridian MS, Northview MS, Stonybrook MS, Heritage Christian MS,
Guinon Creek MS, Greenfield MS and
Noblesville-East MS.
The boys tennis team won 11 matches and lost only 7. They won against
Fall Creek Valley MS, Eastern Hancock
MS, Raymond Park MS, Fall Creek MS,
Perry Meridian MS, Franklin community MS, Northview MS, Guion Creek
MS, Franklin Township-West and
Noblesville-East MS. Congratulations on an amazing season this

Bruin Soccer—Season Wrap-Up

grade soccer team finished their season off with
a record of 4-5. Zach Lane led the team in scoring
with 6, Nate Griffin with 5, Max Allen with 4,
Cameron Hawk and Clark Powless 1. Nate Griffin
and goalie Taylor Richardson finished the season
with 60 saves.
Shoe Review

Adidas and John Wall have
teamed up to create the
Washington Wizards star’s
first signature shoe. Adidas
found a way to feature Wall in
its “Florist City Collection.”
Although there was a shoe in
his honor in that series, the

in Palmdale, California. He attended
Pete High School. For college, he
attended Fresno State.
He plays in the NBA for the Indiana
Pacers. He has four years of experience with the Indiana Pacers. He was
the first round 10th pick. Also he was
the most improved player of 2013.
Paul George was the star player for
the Indiana Pacers, and he led the to
the playoffs. He made the USA Basketball team, but he broke his right
leg in the USA scrimmage. Paul

Peyton Manning’s Passing Touchdown Record

joined Brett Favre as the only quarterbacks in the history of the NFL
to throw for 500 touchdowns. As reported from USA Today, the 38
year-old has recorded some other fun facts on the road to this latest record:
1. Manning has as many TD passes in his career as the Cleveland
Browns do since 1983.
2. Manning has victimized the Houston Texans more any other
team.
3. He’s thrown the fewest touchdowns against the Panthers,
Browns and 49ers.
4. It took Manning 49 fewer games than Favre to reach 500 touchdowns

the Hyatt gym. Tryouts
go on for three days and
you must have a physical
to try out. There is an A
team and a B team. The
A team is for the starters, and the B team is for
the players that sit the
bench. To become apart
of the Belzer Bruins basketball team and
not get cut, you will have
to keep your grades
above C aver-
age, practice everyday,
run, and keep a positive
attitude. There are 12
players per team and
two coaches per team.
You can try out all three
days if you don’t get cut.
The coaches will be Mr.
Love and Coach Jenkins.

season ended with a record of 11-1. The 2014 8th grade team has gone 5 and 8 this season. 5 of our
8th grade players were asked this question, “Do you feel that this years 8th grade team was held to a
higher standard because of last years record?” Here’s how they answered:
Daniel Alejo: “Oh definitely because last year’s players
were so great with a record of 11-1. We were expected to exceed their record, and we couldn’t.”
Justice Thurman: “Yes, because
we had the potential, but we
couldn’t get it together.”
Kirk Pinkston: “Yeah,
but we didn’t live up.”
Treyvon Booker: “No,
because we have
almost a whole new team.”
Javonn Gray: “No, because they
said we were a goofy group going
into it.”
Jaeln Benjamin: “Yes, because we
needed to be better than last
year.”
Stenoree Allen: “Yes, but we didn’t execute.”
Quayston Thomas: “Yes, but we didn’t live
up because it took us longer to trust our
teammates.”

Action-Packed Movie Soars in Theaters
By Nikolaus McCraig. Flying into
theaters comes an action packed,
fun-filled, and hi-tech movie that
the whole family will love. From
the creators of “Wreck-It-Ralph”,
“Frozen”, and “Tangled” comes a
new movie called, “Big Hero 6”. A
young inventor graduates from
high school at the age of 13 and
then decides what he should do
for the rest of his life. Follow his
brother’s steps in going to college,
or do what he likes to do and build fighter robots. He
makes his final choice when he meets an inflatable robot
called Baymax. From that moment, he is destined to become a high-tech hero with Baymax and a group of
friends. From Disney comes the actors Ryan Potter, Scott
Adsit, and Jamie Chung. “Big Hero 6,” rated PG, comes
out in theaters on November 7.
Encounter at the Polls
By NaShele Albertson and Jaela Melton. On October 21 President Obama was at the voting
booth; Aia Cooper voted at the booth next to the
president. Mike Jones, her fiancé, was with Aia at
the polls, and when she saw the president she
knew he would make a smart remark. Her prediction came true
when he walked
past the president's
booth and jokingly
warned, “Mr. President please don’t
touch my girlfriend.” Despite his
wise crack, the
president kept it
calm. His girlfriend
wasn’t as cool with his remarks, and says she was
nervous the whole time. Obama kept the lighthearted moment going, by giving Aia a kiss on the
cheek and a hug after voting. He chided, “At least
she can go home with a good story.”

Chaffin. FOUR is the title of One Direction’s
newest album. It will be released November
14. One Direction’s former album Midnight
Memories was released November 25th, and
Directioners were going crazy when they announced they were working on their fourth
album. The album will include their hit singles Fireproof and Steal My Girl.
“Our new album is called FOUR. We’ve
been working so hard on this...so glad we
can share it with you!!!” Liam Payne tweeted
along with the link to pre-order. One Direction’s band account tweeted they will be going on a fourth tour in early 2015! Not much
information has been released on the tour,
but the guys are thrilled to be going on the
road again.

New Smart Phone

phone has been manufactured
by Motorola and will be released by the end of October,
possibly the week of Halloween. It’s called the Nexus 6, or
Motorola likes to call it Nexus
X. The design comes with more
functions than the older models from Motorola. The icons
are given new and improved
forms, new folders for Google
Drive, and is also able to edit
other apps. Other than the

John Kitchin, was interviewing Bear Biologist
Melanie Clapham in Glendale Cove, Canada a
family of Grizzly Bears were down in the stream
below catching fish as a GOPRO camera was up
on a bridge recording them .The family of Grizzly
Bears eventually went up onto the bridge where
the GOPRO was. The mother found the camera
and picked it up and started playing with the
camera. She played, chewed, pawed, and gave
the camera
to the cubs
for 15
minutes. It
was surprising
when the
mother
bear took
the camera
out of the
case, and
when she
was done messing with the camera, it still
worked and was in some what fine condition.

NBA 2K15 Face Scan Horror???

NBA 2k15 was released on October
7th, 2014. The game has been a
series for 15 years, starting in
1999. Most people believed that
the game was just another harmless basketball game with just
some legendary characters and
fake teams, but they were wrong.
The game featured every NBA
team, with all of the players to
each team, including legends like
Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant.
But, now that we are already at
NBA 2k15, and with Halloween just
around the corner, 2k has
given us just a few scares
that will most likely stay in
our nightmares…
NBA 2k15 starts off with
players making their own
character for their team
that they play as in the
game. They also did the
same thing with NBA 2k12, 13, and
14, but 2k15 is the first to include a
face scanner (This function only works
on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox
One). The face scanner requires players to get close to their Xbox One or
PlayStation 4 camera, and since the
game just came out, 2k probably
didn’t have enough time to fix the
glitches with the game. This glitch
will most likely be fixed within early
November.

get there, the Mohan reveals
his identity. He starts to torture the children; muzzles
them, breaks and beats their
bones. Then, he takes their
homes.
Different versions
Tolima: In these region the
Mohan is described as a man of
skin, muscles and dark hair; his
hair is always large. In some
regions they say that he is not
too tall, with
muscles, with a
horrible look in
his eyes and
abundant hair.
Because of these
last characteristics, some inhabitants call him a big bear. In his
temperament, he is known for
being treacherous and very jealous.
Cundinamarca: In these state,
especially in the municipality of
“Mesa”, the Mohan is known as
the same Juan Díaz (initial owner
of those lands), and is known as a
king or god of the water and rivers.
In this region the Mohan
is ,again, described as a man with
abundant hair, but, there are
some aspects that his appearance is different. In Cundinamarca, he is described as a
gigantic man, with red bright
eyes that looks like flames, a
big mouth, and gold teeth. At
the time of its appearance he
is playful, in love, and is dedicated to pursuing the young
ladies that wash clothes on
the river. Some farmers in the
region say
they have seen
El Mohan on
the Magdalena
river playing
guitar and flute.
They describe
the Mohan
with thick hair
and long barb,
as a terrible patriot
who infuses his authority and at the
same time, makes a
diabolical malice
claim that the gold
sacred caves are to be
considered his home
forever..

California. The Pachucos were people
who dressed in loose clothing. Most of
them were Mexican or Mexican American but there were some African Americans and Filipinos that also dressed this
way. They started this style in 1943 and
many people assumed that they were in
gangs. Most of them were not. They
chose to dress this way to identify with
their friends and the things they
liked. They were known for dancing to
latin versions of swing music. They also
liked Cuban music, and hung out at
dance clubs a lot.
The clothes they wore became a style
called the, zoot suit. In Spanish it was
know as the ‘Pachuco’ style. (There is a
famous song by the Kumbia Kings about
the Pachucos.) The zoot suit was a suit
that was loose from all sides. The costume was very different from what kids
wear now. The suit was always nicely
starched and worn with a belt and nice
shoes.

unos africano-americanos y filipinos que
usaron esta ropa también. Ellos empezaron esta moda en 1943 y muchas personas presumieron que su ropa representa que eran pandilleros. La mayoría no
eran pandilleros. Escogieron vestirse así
para identificarse con sus amigos y las
cosas que les gustaban. La gente les
conocía por sus bailes. También les
gustaba la musica cumbia e irse a las
discotecas también.
La ropa que usaban era una moda que
se llamaba el “Zoot Suit.” En español
se conocía como la moda de
“Pachuco.” (Hay una canción famosa
escrita por los Kumbia Kings sobre los
Pachucos.) El Zoot Suit era un traje
que estaba muy suelta en todas
partes. El estilo de vestirse era muy

Suit Riots began. These riots happened
during World War II and took place in Los
Angeles between the Latino youth and the
Anglo sailors and Marines stationed in the
city. The Zoot Suitors were easy to identify because of their clothing and this made
them an easy target. Sailors would go
into bars or on buses and pull off any person wearing a Zoot Suit. The riots were
the effect of the trial of a murder of a
young Latino. Many latinos thought that
the case verdict was unfair and racial tensions erupted. Many people were hurt
and killed.

By Chris Glover. It’s fall—that time of the year before it gets
cold. Caramel apples are the perfect sweet for fall festivities. Below are some directions on how to make a batch of
caramel apples.
Ingredients:
6 apples
1 (14 ounce) package individually
wrapped caramels, unwrapped
2 Tablespoons milk
Craft sticks
Directions:
1. Remove the stem from each
apple and press a craft stick into the top.
2. Butter a baking sheet. Place caramels and milk in a microwave
safe bowl, and microwave 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
3. Allow to cool briefly. Roll each apple quickly in caramel sauce
until well coated.
4. Place n baking sheet to cool completely.
No-Shave November
By Charlie Nelson and Jasmyn Songer. In November there is an event called No-Shave
November held for the entire month during
which guys don’t shave their beards as a way
of raising awareness for prostate cancer.
Not every teacher in this school has to take
part in this event. The goal for No-shave November is to grow the thickest beard. Last
year the school didn’t earn any money for
this type of cancer, but Mr. Connors said,
“We plan on talking to the guidance counselors about doing some sort of fundraiser this
time.”
Let’s see who has the fullest most natural
beard after a month before they join in a
ritual corporate shaving Dec. 1st.
Good Girls

(Extended play). The EP is going to be released
November 17, 2014. This is not an album. An
