Conclusions
• Milled surface to combustion chamber buttons not parallel in
casting or cubed part
– Combustion chambers up to .5 mm out of parallel in both cases
• Parts shipping from casting operation have the same variation
• Measuring the cast parts would prevent the shipment of nonstandard castings to the final customer
• The cast part would not have any more money invested in it
because it would be detected at the casting operation and
contained
• The casting process could be adjusted proactively
