Traditional Prayers
Come Lord Jesus, be our guest, and let these gifts to us be blessed. Amen.
God is great. God is good. Let us thank God for our food. By God’s hand we all are fed. Give oh Lord our daily
bread. Amen.
Accept our gratitude, O Lord, for all the blessings that you give. Direct and guide our daily paths, and teach us how
to live. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Gracious God, thank you for the food before us, the friends beside us, the love between us, and your presence
among us. Amen.
May these gifts of food be strength for our bodies as the Word of God is strength for our lives. Amen.

feast in paradise with thee. Amen.

“Jaws Prayer” (to the tune of Jaws; make shark fin above head, and slap hands together at end for a “chomp!”)
God is great, and God is good, and we thank God for our food. Amen amen amen amen amen- chomp!
“Superman Prayer” (to the tune of Superman theme song; pump arm into the air as if you’re flying like Superman,
and alternate arms. At the end “Thank you God for giving us food,” put up both arms. At “Amen,” put arms down
and stomp the ground.)
Thank you God for giving us food. Thank you God for giving us food. For the food that we eat. And the friends
that we meet. Thank you God for giving us food. Amen.
“Addams Family Prayer” (to the tune of Addams Family theme song; cross arms in front of chest and snap fingers
like the Addams Family.)
Be present at our table, Lord. Be here and everywhere adored. These mercies bless and grant that we may
strengthen for thy service be. Amen (snap snap) Amen (snap snap) Amen, amen, amen (snap snap.)
“Johnny Appleseed Prayer” (Make a big “o” with your arms above your head for the beginning, then clap along!
At final “aaaamen,” put arm(s) in air and swing down.)
Ohhhhh, the Lord is good to me and so I thank the Lord for giving me the things I need, the sun and the rain and
the appleseed. The Lord is good to me. Amen (clap clap). Amen (clap clap). Amen amen amen. Aaaaaaamen!
“Silent Prayer” Clap (to get everyone’s attention); Point to where the food came from (like the kitchen or outside);
Rub your belly (because you know it’s going to be sooo good!); Give God a round of applause, and put your hands
together at the end for the sing “Amen” (one hand in fist, other hand covers)
