Journey into Kansas and visit Dodge City, known worldwide as the “Cowboy Capital of the World” and home to Boot Hill. Day 3, Mon., July 3 – Rapid City, South Dakota – Bus through Western Nebraska, crossing the paths of the 19th century wagon trains going west and through the National Grassland prairies of Nebraska. We visit Badlands National Park and the famous Wall Drug Store. Overnight in Rapid City. Day 4, Tues., July 4– Sheridan, Wyoming – Morning in the beautiful “Black Hills” of South Dakota, the highest mountains east of the Rocky Mountains. We visit Mt. Rushmore which depicts four great American presidents – Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt. Then visit Crazy Horse Monument. Also visit Devils Tower National Monument. Overnight in Sheridan. Day 5, Wed., July 5– Yellowstone area – Jackson, WY - Through beautiful Bighorn Mountains to Cody, Wyoming, then on to Yellowstone. See Yellowstone Lake, the largest lake in America above 7,000 feet. See wild animals, picturesque scenery, and bubbling, colorful mud pots. Enjoy spectacular views of some of the grandest mountains in the world, the Grand Teton Mountain Range, with its saw-toothed 13,500 foot high ridges crested with snow. Overnight Jackson. Day 6, Thurs., July 6 – Yellowstone area- West Yellowstone, MT – See many geysers, the best known being Old Faithful, erupting approximately every hour. View spectacular “Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone” and visit the 310 feet Lower Falls, twice the height of Niagara Falls. Overnight West Yellowstone. Day 7, Fri., July 7 – Billings, MT – Morning viewing of more wonders of Yellowstone. Afternoon departure via spectacular Bear Tooth Pass, one of the most scenic routes in the world. Overnight in Billings. Day 8, Sat., July 8 – Medora, ND – Morning visit to site of Custer’s Last Stand, Little Bighorn Battlefield. Through Montana to Medora. Tonight enjoy included dinner followed by the Medora Musical in the Burning Hills Amphitheater. Day 9, Sun., July 9 – Fargo, ND – Morning visit to Theodore Roosevelt National Park and North Dakota Badlands. In the late 1800’s (before he was president) Roosevelt ranched here. At the state capital – Bismarck – we visit Fort Lincoln to see the last home of General George Custer and Mandan Indian Village. Overnight in Fargo. Day 10, Mon., July 10 – Minneapolis, MN– Visit headwaters of the Mississippi River – perhaps wade across it. Day 11, Tues., July 11 – Ames, Iowa – Morning visit to Mall of America. Many things to do & see, even if you don’t shop. Visit National Eagle Center & Nelson Cheese Factory. Afternoon drive thru a beautiful part of Wisconsin and into Iowa. Day 12, Wed., July 12 – Branson, MO – Through Iowa and Kansas City, Missouri. Dinner and show in Branson.
