creative people to get us there – people like you! You will need to learn how to get
people into space, take them where they need to go, and bring them back. That’s
where your pals the Kerbals come in handy. In this class, you will learn about NASA’s
upcoming journey to Mars and the physics of space travel by using a computer
game called Kerbal Space Program, designed in part by NASA. You will actually

What do pineapples, rabbits, and credit cards all have in common? What is the
geometric difference between a banana and a coffee mug? What is the value of
pi for a square or triangle? In this class, we will work in a fun, interactive way to
investigate such questions and gain insight into a variety of geometric topics. Along
our mathematical journey, we will visit concepts such as the Fibonacci numbers and
the Golden Ratio, the fourth dimension, fractals, and other geometric gems that
are not usually introduced to students until long after high school. We will develop
problem solving abilities and critical thinking skills that are both important indicators
of a healthy mathematical mind.
