DURANG DURANG
By Christopher Durang
Directed by Andrew Porter
September 13th thru
October 13th, 2013
Do you Durang? We open our 2013-2014 season with the master of
the absurd, the unconventional, the wacky, the downright ridiculous,
2013 Tony Award Winning playwright, Christopher Durang. These
short plays find the “dramamine in drama.” These twisted, dysfunctional, irreverent tales will make you laugh and cry and then both love
and hate yourself for it.
“Christopher Durang has the wit, the high, rebellious spirits, and the
rage of a born satirist.” THE NEW YORKER
“These works have so many good lines that quoting them could
enliven a week’s worth of dull dinner parties.” NY TIMES
November 8th thru
December 8th, 2013
The bungled kidnapping of a mysterious businessman has explosive
ramifications for a violent petty thief, his emotionally fragile brother
and their supposed victim, who soon reveals a variety of surprising
secrets. Wickedly funny and powerfully emotional, Orphans portrays
three very different men whose childhood deprivation of love and
nurturing has astonishing consequences.
“…a vibrant exploration of masculinity and the challenge of forming
and maintaining family connections.” ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY
BOEING-BOEING
By Marc Camoletti
Directed by Josh Shoemaker
January 10th thru
February 9th, 2014
Handsome bachelor Bernard is a man with a plan. Engaged to three
different gorgeous flight attendants, he keeps each of them in the dark
about the others by carefully scheduling his life around the airlines’
timetables. However, when the schedules change, all hell is set to
break loose in his posh Parisian apartment. Boeing-Boeing is a sexy
60s romp with all the hilarious earmarks of a rollicking French farce,
and it is most certainly not to be missed!
“Paris. Stewardesses. Bedrooms. A handsome playboy. The frolic of
the jet-set life in 1962. You don’t need to be a fan of ‘Coffee, Tea or
Me’ to figure out that the necessary jet fuel here is sexual energy.”
THE CHICAGO TRIBUNE
SHORTS IN A BUNDLE
By Anton Chekhov
March 7th thru
Directed by Howard Berkowitz April 6th, 2014
By Various Playwrights
With bold, vibrant, and hilarious dialogue, Anton Chekhov captures
the divine comedy of everyday life, exposing our foibles and selfdeceptions in all their glory. Join a cast of frenetic fathers, desperate
daughters, paranoid paramours, and hassled husbands for this
stunning evening of wonderful world theater.
Nearly 250 plays were submitted to us over the past three seasons for
consideration in our 10-minute play festival. Our festival had a lot of
rules, so we have decided to throw them out and present some of the
plays that broke those rules and some of the plays “that got away.”
No competition, no voting, no rules, just more original plays to satisfy
your short attention span.
“Lively, life-affirming and laugh-out-loud funny, ... Chekhov’s Vaudevilles ... is a breath of fresh air. It’s a must see for anyone who loves
Chekhov and an eye-opener for anyone under the impression that an
evening of Chekhov would be hard work.” THE REMOTE GOAT
By Peter Shaffer
Directed by Barry Feinstein
October 18th thru
November 3rd, 2013
“Any scene that can you make you laugh out loud and swallow hard
in the same 10 minutes is one to remember.” BALTIMORE CITY PAPER

ORPHANS
By Lyle Kessler

May 2nd thru
June 1st, 2014
This provocative work that won both a Tony Award and an Academy
Award weaves a confrontation between mediocrity and genius into a
tale of breathtaking dramatic power. Salieri has given himself to God
so that he might realize his sole ambition to be a great composer,
while Mozart is a silly, graceless young man who has that which is
beyond Salieri’s envious grasp: Genius.
“A total iridescent triumph of complexity, emotion, and dramatic
power.” NEW YORK POST
By Petr Zelenka
Directed by Barry Feinstein
February 14th thru
March 2nd, 2014
A family and a young man are coming apart in a post Communist
world defined by the old Marxist newspeak, sexual perversity, and
a peculiar strain of mental dysfunction. Funny and tragic, Zelenka’s
voice is more than European, it’s global. Don’t miss the “Seinfeld in
Prague” two-act experience.
“Electrifying …Scorching… Making the descent from black comedy
into tragedy in a bracing theatrical thrill-ride.” THE HOLIDAY REPORTER

When Marlene celebrates her promotion to the top of a London
employment agency, she invites all of her heroines from art and history
to join her: a fearless Victorian-era explorer, a Japanese Emperor’s
mistress turned Buddhist nun, a woman who may have indeed been
the Pope, the Canterbury Tales’ obedient Clerk’s wife, and a Flemish
peasant-avenger who’s been to Hell and back. These women all know
that success requires sacrifice, but who has to pay the cost? Seamlessly entwining dark comedy and political critique, this innovative and
powerful modern classic has never been more relevant.
