For those of us here at Behavioral Health Resources, we take our mission to provide care very
seriously. Since 1956, our agency has been vital for hundreds of thousands of our neighbors
who turn to our staff for assistance in their recovery. Today, 1 in every 4 adults and 1 in every
12 children in our community is affected by mental illness or chemical dependency. The
need for our services increases every year.
As a non-profit, we rely on you as a caring neighbor, to see this need and to reach out. Your
support is how we were able to help clients like Miki Cabell receive her acceptance into
Harvard after initially coming to us with a 7th grade education and a repeat offender criminal
record. Children like Joe West, who was raised in the foster care system with multiple
diagnoses, have become independent and are now enrolled in college as productive members of our community. Women like La-Ray Bryant have discovered coping mechanisms to
better deal with her background as a survivor of childhood sexual and physical abuse. She
sought help for alcoholism and PTSD and found it here at BHR.
Our staff collaborates with dozens of other agencies in our 3 county service region serving
hundreds every day. We are proud to be the provider of community mental health. With your
support, we will continue our mission to serve.
