Michelle’s Message
Term 3 is going to be a busy 9 week term with the Big Day In,
Cross Country, Wellington Trip, learning celebraons, Olympics
Day, Mathex, a pie drive, school photos and we mustn’t forget
our ongoing learning programmes.
The staff have reviewed the ‘Jump Up’ system and have made
some tweaks. Your child may have come home talking about
becoming a ‘Ka Pai kid”. To become a Ka Pai Kid and a3end the
celebraon, children will be displaying the following learning and
social behaviours.
I am looking forward to another great term. ☺

There are five jumps up over each half of the term. The traffic
light system is sll in place for misbehaviours and consequences
are given separately for these.
We have also developed a progression as we encourage our
students to develop student agency i.e: becoming more self
managing of their learning. Children will progress from the
Maunga to the Moana and within these steps are descriptors
that explain the learning that goes with the stage. We will
introduce these to you over the next few newsle3ers.

ParenƟng Tip-How to help your child make friends
At the end of week 2 each family will receive one raffle card to
sell to raise funds for their child/rens’ Big Day Out. These have
20 numbers each at $1.00 per cket and the full amount sold
will be credited to their trip. If you wish to sell more than one
card please let Sue in the office know. If you have already paid
for your trip we can credit any funds to acvies later in the year
(like shows and swimming).
Somemes as parents we’re unsure about how much input we
should have in our children’s friendships. We know we need
to let them have some space, to find their own way. But at the
same me we are extremely interested to know – “Who did you
play with? For how long? Who else was there? How did it go?”
Having at least one friend will help protect our kids from all sorts
of bad days, but for lots of them, making friends is not so
The raffles cards and fund raised need to be returned to the easy. It’s helpful for kids to know there are a few magic

Introducing our Student Leaders - Kaitlin
Mosston School Facebook Page
Have you checked out our latest facebook photos?
We now have 131 members on our Mosston School Facebook
page and are enjoying sharing school happenings
with you. This is a closed group so no details are
shared with others. The group is only for current
adults associated with Mosston School. We are very
happy to add grandparents, just pop in and see Sue
or Michelle and we will add these extended family members for
you.
My name is Kaitlin. I am a year 6 student,
so this is my last year at this school. It was
one of my goals to become a student
leader. I enjoy being at Mosston and take
pride in my work. At Mosston I take part
in the ukulele group and e-club. I am also
a librarian and I have read a lot of words
in Lexile!
I am a good student leader because I am
responsible and caring. I am helpful to
teachers and other children and I care
about making sure others feel valued. I have a shy personality
and I feel this opportunity forces me to be centre stage and
helps me to further develop my confidence.
Outside of school me I enjoy reading, doing gymnascs, drama
lessons, free wring, music and going on the Chromebook. I

Coffee Bus
One of our families has approached us about
selling coffee in the car park in the mornings and
passing on a percentage of takings to the school.
We will be trialling this for two weeks to see if we
have enough coffee consumers in our community.
The cart will arrive about 8:25am and leave just
aCer 9:00am. It will be on court, facing the pedestrian walk way.
The bus has eCpos and a loyalty card ☺
Aria and Sarah made these (complicated) crocodiles this week.
They followed instrucons from a YouTube tutorial and
independently completed these li3le works of art. Well done
girls. If you want to find out how these can be made, you can
click on the QR code above and this will take you to the tutorial.
