WRITING REFLECTION
SCORE POINT 3
In this essay, the writer’s awareness of how specific aspects of his writing contributed to its
overall effect is limited to their effects on his grades. Claims are supported by specific references
to at least three of his writings. The essay has a clear but predictable structure; the introductory
paragraph does not suggest what is to follow. Overall, the essay demonstrates a competent, if
inconsistent, ability to meet the requirements of the prompt.
Writing is a necessity. In my case, it ranks up there with breathing and eating. It is the way I
am capable to pour out my emotions and attitudes for other people to read. I began writing ever
since I was a child. It comes natural to me and has become my second nature. I personally enjoy
writing fiction stories, since that enables me to use my imagination at its peak.
As a writer, I am no stranger to the strengths and weaknesses which exist in my writing. My
weakness is practically non-fiction altogether, as I have harness a different writing style. My
vocabulary choice, thesis and quotes were a mess in the beginning of the year, “me, I, we thesis
and quotes,” (paper 9) demonstrates this! I scored a fifteen out of twenty points on that paper
and several others. In contrast, my strengths are in Grammar, character development and detail.
“Shot back Odysseus threateningly,” (paper 1) displays these qualities.
A writer always undergoes growth, which can be recorded and easily observed. My work
has been growing ever since I was a young kid, but it progressed greatly this year. At the very
beginning of the year, I was told to write my first analytical prompt. I got an eighteen out of
twenty on the prompt, because I was unable to include a quote. I was unsure how to insert
“Quotes?” (paper 8) into my prompt. My paper did not contain any quotes which brought my
grade down two points. It is now uncommon in my latest papers to forget quotes. I received a
perfect score on my first BCR, since I didn’t forget a quote (paper 7).
As every writer has in the past, I will have goals I plan to execute in the coming year. As my
first goal, I plan to continue to pursue my love for writing in the genre of fantasy and hopefully
one day become an author. At this moment, I have written a total of ninety pages on my fantasy
book. I plan on writing analytical prompts in the future and never receive a grade of fifteen out
of twenty again (paper 9). For my second goal I plan to double check my work for any careless
errors.
This year, as a writer, I endured many weaknesses, but these weaknesses provided me with
more momentum to succeed thereby enhancing my strengths. I also was able to grow as a
brilliant young writer and strive to ace future analytical prompts by including plenty of quotes. I

will also complete my goals in the near future. This reflection allowed me to review all my past
writings and observe my progress I believe I am moving forward.
