Monday 9-20
-UNIT ONE, CHAPTER ONE, SECTION ONE
-discussion of advances in technology as they affect our society
-identification of cause and effect p. 2
-introduce format for vocabulary words p. 3
-introduction to Chapter pp 4-5 (timeline, expectations, focus)
-HOMEWORK – CONTENT AND ACADEMIC VOCABULARY
WRITTEN IN HISTORY SPIRAL – DUE TOMORROW

Tuesday 9-21
-review vocabulary
-note taking skills and strategies; notes for Chapter 1 Section 1 will be
done in class. Students will be expected to copy notes on loose leaf
paper
-HOMEWORK – COMPLETE ‘READING CHECKS’ P. 7 AND 9 IN
HISTORY SPIRAL. IF NECESSARY COMPLETE SECTION 1 NOTES
Textbooks should
be brought to class
everyday!

highlighter for
class tomorrow

Wednesday 9-22
-review vocabulary and reading check questions
-students will be allowed to select 2 questions from essay questions on
p. 9 (# 2,3,4,5,or 7). Each question must be answered as a COMPLETE
essay and should be at least 5 paragraphs long (introduction, 3 body
paragraphs and a conclusion.) Each essay should be a separate sheet
of paper
-HOMEWORK – COMPLETE ESSAY AS NECESSARY, STUDY FOR
SECTION 1 QUIZ TOMORROW

Thursday 9-23
-collect essay assignment
-collect Section 1 notes
-SECTION 1 QUIZ (10 minutes)
-CLASSWORK/HOMEWORK - create 2 campaign posters for the
Free Soil Party (be sure to include their vision, motto and slogan).
Remember color and design matter as much as content

Friday 9-24
-collect campaign posters
-students will work with classroom set of laptops to foster comfort and
familiarity with the technology that will be used in the classroom.
Students will be introduced to various sites and applications for their
benefit.
