Cut the (8) 36˝x 2˝x 2˝ Balusters in
half using the circular saw to obtain
(16) 18˝ sections. See cut diagram
for reference.

(A) Measure and cut (2) 80˝ long
pieces from the 1⁄4˝ x 50´ Natural
Sisal Rope using Heavy-Duty
Scissors or a Box Cutter.
MATERIALS
• 8 – 36˝ x 2˝ x 2˝ Square End Balusters
• 1 – Spool 1⁄4˝ x 50´ Natural Sisal Rope
Optional Materials:
• Paint, Stain, or Seal accessories for application
• Electrical Tape

• Circular Saw
• 3 ⁄8 Drill Bit

Measure the wood
Using a tape measure and a pencil,
measure and mark the (8) 36˝x 2˝
x 2˝ wood pieces as indicated on
the cut diagram.

Measure and mark for
drilling holes
Measure in 1˝ from each end at both
ends of all (16) 18˝ long sections of
Balusters and mark with pencil.

drill all holes
Using the drill with the 3 ⁄ 8˝ drill bit,
drill holes at both ends of all (16)
18˝ long sections of Balusters at
1˝ from each end.

thread rope and tie knots

Sand the rough edges of the cut
wood before painting or staining.
Tie a knot at one end of one of the
80˝ long pieces of Natural Sisal
Rope. Thread the other end of the
rope through the hole at one end of
one of the Baluster sections and tie
another knot. Continue threading the
rope through the holes of the (16)
Baluster sections tying knots
between each section. TIP: Wrapping
the end of the rope with a piece of
tape makes it easier to thread the
rope through the holes.
(A) With the second piece of rope,
repeat knotting and threading
through the holes on the other side
of the Baluster sections.

Paint or Stain
Paint, stain, or seal all wood cut
pieces prior to assembly.

Finishing up
Cut any excess from the rope once
the final knot has been tied.
