Hit The Road 2017- The Monopoly Walk
Meet at Trinity Gardens, Tower Hill.
The first Monopoly property is Fenchurch Street Station. It would be a good idea if you can tick that
one off before joining the start at Trinity Gardens.
And off we go. We are all starting together so you shouldn’t get lost yet!!
Head towards the Tower of London, along the river and cross Tower Bridge.
Continue along Tower Bridge Road.

Continue along Tower
Bridge Road and then
turn left into Webb
Street.
Turn right and walk
across green.
Turn into Leroy Street
and head down to main
road. Turn right into Old
Kent Road.
Cross the roundabout and
head towards Great
Dover Road, A2.
Continue along Great Dover
Street (A2) to a big junction. Cross
the road and pass Borough
Station and into Marshalsea Road.

At the top of the road, bear right into Southwark Bridge
Road. Continue along here to Southwark Bridge and cross
the river.
Continue across the bridge. When you reach Cannon
Street, turn left. Head towards St Pauls Cathedral and
then to Ludgate Hill. Continue straight into Fleet Street.
You will pass the law courts on your right. Continuing
walking straight.

the Strand. Keeping to
the right, follow the
road (Aldwych). Turn
right into Kingsway.
Turn left into Great
Queen Street. Road
then becomes Long
Acre.
Turn left into Bow
Street and continue to
Strand. Turn right.

Continue along Strand. Pass Charing Cross station. Turn left into
Northumberland St and then left into Northumberland Ave. Cross the road and
turn right into Great Scotland Yard. Continue to Whitehall. Turn right. Cross the
road. Opposite Horse Guards Ave, turn right and walk through to Horse Guards
Parade to Horse Guards Road. Turn right.
Continue along Horse Guards Road to The Mall. Cross The Mall and continue past
Duke of York’s Column. Along Waterloo Place to Pall Mall. Turn right into Pall Mall.
Then turn right into Cockspur Street and head to Trafalgar Square. Walk around
Trafalgar Square towards St Martins Church and National Gallery. Walk along the
side of the National Gallery into Charing Cross Road. Turn left into Irving Street to
Leicester Square. Cross the gardens in Leicester Square. Turn left into Coventry
Street to Piccadilly Circus.

Cross Piccadilly Circus and walk up Piccadilly. Turn right into Swallow Street. Walk past Vine
Street on the right and cut through to Regent Street. Continue up Regent Street until you get to
Maddox Street on the left. You should also see Great Marlborough Street on the right. Turn left
into Maddox Street.

road, turn right into New

Continue along New

into Brook Street. Cross
the road and turn right
into South Molton
Street. When you reach
Oxford Street, turn left.
Turn left into Binney
Street. At the top of the
road, turn right into
Brook Street.
Turn left into Grosvenor
Square. Continue along
Carlos Place and then
bear left into Mount
Street.
Follow Mount Street
which bears right and
then into Berkeley
Square.
Continue to Charles
Street. Turn right.

Turn left into Queen Street and at the end of the road, turn right into Curzon Street. At the end of
Curzon Street you will come to Park Lane. Turn left and you will come to an underpass outside
the Park Lane Hilton. Cross the road using the underpass and at the end go up the steps on the
right. At the top of the steps you will see the gate into Hyde Park. Enter the park and walk
straight ahead along the path.
As you come up the path, you will hit a junction of paths.
You need to take the one as shown on the left. When you
get to the road through the park, cross it and continue in
the same direction across the grass, not keeping to the
path this time. Soon you will notice a bandstand on your
left and then see the Serpentine ahead. When you get to
the road alongside the Serpentine, turn right.
Continue along the Serpentine and you will arrive at the Italian Gardens.

Italian Gardens – 10 miles - Halfway point
Leaving the park at the Italian Gardens Gate, cross the road and continue straight ahead to Sussex
Gardens.

Follow Sussex
Gardens, bearing
slightly right, up to
Edgeware Road.
Cross over and
continue into Old
Marylebone Road.
At the top of the road, turn right into Marylebone Road. Cross Marylebone Road and turn left into
Lisson Grove. Turn right into Harewood Row which then becomes Melcombe Place, then Dorset
Square and then Melcombe St. At the end of this road, Baker Street, cross over and turn left. At the
traffic lights, continue straight on Baker Street. Bear right and cross the road. Enter Regents Park and
turn right.

Continue along the footpath in the park to the gate. Leave the park and turn right into Park Square
East. At the top of the road turn left into Marylebone Road.
The next section is the most straightforward of the whole walk. Continue along Marylebone Road
and then Euston Road past Euston Station and then St Pancras Station and then Kings Cross Station.
Just after Kings Cross, cross the road and set off up Pentonville Road. Sorry about the hill!! Those of
you who did the first walk will remember walking along this road in the other direction on the first
walk.

At the junction, turn left into Islington High Street. Cross the road and walk past the Angel Station.
Turn right into Duncan Street. At the end of the road, head down the slope to the canal. Continue
until you see The Narrow Boat pub above, Wharf Road Bridge. Up the steps and turn right into
Wharf Road.
At the end of Wharf Road at the
McDonalds, turn left. Cross the road
and turn right into Dingley Road. Turn
right at the end to continue on Dingley
Road. Turn left into Ironmonger Row.
At the end of the road, turn right into
Old Street and then take the first left
into Whitecross Street.

Continue to the end of Whitecross Street. At
the end, turn left into Chiswell Street.
Turn right into Moor Lane.
Turn left into Ropemaker Street which then
becomes South Place and then Eldon Street.
There is a lot of work going on here for Crossrail
so watch out to turn left into Liverpool Street.
At the end of the road turn left into
Bishopsgate.
Cross Bishopsgate outside Liverpool Street Station and continue along Bishopsgate. Turn right into a
very small road, Artillery Lane. This then bears right and then left.
Then turn right into Crispin Street and immediately turn left into White’s Row. At the end turn right
into Commercial Street.

Cross the road and turn left into Wentworth Street. This then turns into Old Montague Street. Turn
right into Greatorex Street. At the end of the road turn left into Whitechapel Road.
Continue along Whitechapel Road, past Whitechapel Station. You will pass The Blind Beggar pub on
your left. You then need to cross the road and go down Sydney Road. Turn left into Adelina Grove.
This then becomes Redmans Road. When you reach Stepney Green Park, don’t go in the first gate
but go in the 2nd or third. Cut across the park. When you come out, turn left into Stepney Way. Walk
past the City Farm on your left. At the end of the road is a church. Walk right up to the church and by
the door, take the path to the right and walk along the path in the churchyard.

When you exit, continue along Matlock Street and take the second turning on the left, Salmon Lane.
Continue along Salmon Lane until you see the canal. Don’t go over the bridge, turn left and walk
through to footbridge over the canal. Turn left and you will see the path down to the canal. Walk
along the canal to Limehouse Basin which you should recognise from previous years.

Canary Wharf.
Cross the footbridge
into Ropemakers
Field. Walk right
across the park.
When you exit the park, turn left into Narrow Street. Cross the road and just past a building Dunbar
Wharf. Turn right to go through towards the River Thames.

Follow the path along the
Thames to Canary Wharf
Pier. Head away from the
river and up the steps.
Continue across Westferry Circus and into West India Avenue. Follow the road to the left and then
right. Then turn left and cross the footbridge. Turn left and follow the path to the Ledger Building.
