10. Child’s Play
Child’s Play is the all time Halloween classic story featuring notorious serial killer Charles
Lee Ray, aka The Lakeshore Strangler, who’s murderous crime spree seems to come to
a violent end when he is gunned down by Detective Mike Norris. However the dying
murderer Ray uses black magic to put his soul inside a doll named Chucky – which Karen
Barclay then buys for her young son, Andy. When Chucky kills Andy’s babysitter, the boy
realizes the doll is alive and tries to warn people, but he’s institutionalized. Now Karen
must convince the detective of the homicidal doll’s intentions before Andy becomes
Chucky’s next victim.
9. American Horror Story
American Horror Story is the anthology horror television series that continues to unravel
audiences with an all-new disturbing and haunting tale each season. Season 1 begins by
exploring a subversive modern horror tale via the story of the Harmons, a family of three
who move from Boston to Los Angeles as a means to reconcile past anguish. What the
Harmons don’t know is that the house they’ve moved into is haunted by demonic
creatures. In Season 2, American Horror Story: Asylum, a dark story unfolds in a Churchrun haven for the criminally insane, ruled with an iron fist by Sister Jude, a nun with a
troubled past. Inside this locked down facility, danger lurks around every corner. In
Season 3, American Horror Story: Coven, the secret history of witches and witchcraft in
America is exposed. Mysterious attacks have been escalating against their kind and
young girls are being sent away to a special school in New Orleans to learn how to
protect themselves.
8. Friday the 13th
The 2009 re-boot of the original slasher classic, Friday the 13th is the twelfth installment
of the franchise introducing hockey-masked killer Jason to a whole new generation of
victims! Against the advice of locals and police, Clay scours the eerie woods surrounding
Crystal Lake for his missing sister. But the rotting cabins of an abandoned summer camp
are not thing only things he finds. Legendary serial killer, Jason Voorhees lies in wait fro a
chance to use his razor-sharp machete on Clay and the group of college students who
have come to the forest to party.
7. Penny Dreadful
British American horror drama, Penny Dreadful, is a dark psychological thriller filled with
intense mystery and suspense, where personal demons from the past can be stronger
than vampires, evil spirits and immortal beasts. Featuring literature’s most terrifying
characters, including Dr. Frankenstein and his monster, Dorian Gray, and iconic figures
from the novel Dracula, all lurking in Victorian London, they are joined by a core of
original characters in a complex, frightening new narrative.
6. Paranormal Activity 2
Even more terrifying than the first installment, supernatural horror film Paranormal
Activity, broke the record for biggest opening for a horror film of all time. When the Reys
move into their new Southern California home, little do they realize that the house is
already occupied. After coming home one day to find the house in disarray but no sign of
forced entry or robbery – they install a video surveillance system to catch the
perpetrators, but nothing prepares them for what happens next.
5. The Omen
The 2006 remake of the 1976 horror classic of the same name, The Omen is just a
terrifying as its predecessor. A new age of evil threatens to arise when an American
diplomat and his wife learn that the child they adopted may literally be (read: IS) the devil
incarnate. Mystical signs point to the Antichrist’s coming battle for dominion over heaven
and earth.
4. 28 Weeks Later
This post-apocalyptic science fiction horror film, 28 Weeks Later is structured as a sequel
to one of the greatest zombie films of all time, 28 Days Later (also on iflix!). Six months
after the original epidemic, the rage virus has all but annihilated the population of the
British Isles. Nevertheless the U.S. Army declares the danger past, and American
soldiers arrive to restore order and begin reconstruction. Refugees return to British soil,
but one of them carries a deadly secret: The virus is not gone and is even more
dangerous than before.
3. Sleepy Hollow
The legendary haunting tale of Ichabod Crane comes to life in Sleepy Hollow, this
supernatural modern day adaptation of the 1820 Halloween short story. Crane awakes
from the throes of death 250 years in the future where he must solve a mystery dating
back to the founding fathers. Due to a blood spell cast on a battlefield during the
Revolution, the infamous headless horseman is revived along with Crane, and the
murderous rider embarks on a bloody rampage in present day Sleepy Hollow. Ichabod
realizes that he must act quickly, for the headless horseman is only the first of the Four
Horseman of the Apocolypse. Detective Abbie Mills, forms a bond with Crane as they try
to stop an increasingly vicious cycle of evil.
2. Bedlam
Bedlam is the ghostly supernatural drama series, welcomes you to Bedlam Heights – a
hip, newly renovated apartment building with sexy tenants and stylish décor. But behind
its façade, lie unimaginable horrors. The conversion of Bedlam Heights from a former
insane asylum has awakened the ghosts of its dark and violent past. These spirits wish to
reclaim what’s theirs and seek revenge on those who have wronged them. In the second
season, the horror and drama returns as the restless spirits of Bedlam wreak their terrible
revenge on unsuspecting new inhabitants. As residents continue to be terrorized by the
asylum’s dark past, they soon realize whatever is waiting for them is worse than anything
they could have ever imagined.
1. Silent Hill: Revelation
Adaptation of the Japanese horror franchise of the same name, Silent Hill: Revelation is a
psychological horror film focusing n the survival horror video game. For many years,
Heather Mason and her father, Harry have been on the run from dangerous forces she
does not understand. Heather continues to be plagued by terrifying nightmares and
frightened by her father’s disappearance. On the eve of her 18th birthday, she discovers
she is not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deep into the demonic world of
Silent Hill, where she may become trapped forever.
