Illustrator - How to Build the pages of your Zine You will be using the content that you created in the last section. The collection of drawings, tracings, collage, etc. Step 1: Photograph your content. Make sure that you have good lighting. You can use your phone, or our classroom ipad. Email your pictures to yourself. Save a copy on the desktop OR Use the scanner - Attach the scanned images to an email. Step 2: Open Illustrator - File > New Make your pages 5 inches wide x 8 inches tall. Step 3: File > Place - The content that your photographed and scanned. Step 4: Use Clipping masks to hide parts that you are not going to use. Illustrator - How to Build the pages of your Zine Think back to past projects for inspiration. Branding Badges, Illustrated words, Scribble type, Hypotrochoid shape, Lost and Found borders, Exquisite Corpse, Tile, Typographic Quote, etc. Create each page by selecting pieces and parts from different sources. Use the list of ideas below to alter your images Elements of Art Line Shape Color Texture Value Space / Form Principles of Art Pattern Rhythm / Movement Scale / Proportion Balance Unity Emphasis Use all the tools that you feel comfortable using. Also, experiment and try some tools that you might not have used before. Saving the pages of your Zine Save each pages separately. Save each pages as an Illustrator document (.ai) And, Once the page is totally complete Save the image as - .PDF If you plan on bring your Illustrator work intoPhotoshop Save your images as a .JPG Your Zine will need to have 8 pages. The end result whether you use Photoshop or Illustrator 8 pages of content Each page saved separately as a .PDF Be organized in your dropbox by creating a folder just for zine pages.
