1. International missions

SOUTHEAST ASIAN UNENGAGED PEOPLES - There are 10 unengaged unreached people groups
(UUPGs) on our island. We are working to embrace these people groups through prayer strategy. We
have initiated a prayer effort called ‘10x10 Prayer Partners.’ Pray for 100 churches to step up and adopt
our UUPGs in prayer. Ask God to open doors so that workers will live among these UUPGs and develop
a vibrant strategy to reach out to them with the Gospel.
 JAPAN GOSPEL PENETRATION NETWORK - Clowns find entrances into the hearts of Japanese who
are usually closed to a Christian witness. Husbands of house church Christians in Togane, Japan, agreed
to meet the clown, who is a retired engineer, and were surprised that a successful businessman would be a
Christian. Why did he need God? This witness has opened the door for one wife to read the Bible
together with her husband. Another husband has apologized for mistreating his wife (he had taken away
her Bible, forbidden her to go to worship, and asked her to give up her faith). Other husbands have
responded to the clown and are more open to the witness of their Christian wives. Pray for these husbands
to be saved, and for their homes and places of business to become places where people gather for worship
and where the Gospel is proclaimed.
 FUTA TORO FULANI OF WEST AFRICA (FU-tah TOH-roh fu-LAH-nee) - The lands of the Futa Toro
Fulani that have lain dry and parched for most of the year are now beginning to receive their first rains of
the season. Life itself in the Futa depends on these rains. Grass seed that has lain baked and dormant will
quickly burst to life, turning the brown and gray landscape a lush green. Lean cattle, sheep and goats will
fatten quickly, storing up as much as they possibly can. Short-season crops will be planted quickly in
hopes of a bountiful harvest that will hold man and beast through the long dry spell to follow until the
rains fall again next year. All this is a vivid picture--straight from the Scriptures--of how workers in the
Futa have been scattering seeds of the Gospel in dry, hard, rocky places, just waiting for the moment
when it will take root and burst forth into vibrant believers. They have entered the barren fields with
volunteers, media presentations, radio broadcasts, personal contacts and relation building, sharing the
Word in several languages and means--all for the same end result: a harvest. Some sow, some water,
some reap, and many pray. As the rains fall this month, join in petitioning the Father to bring a harvest
among those who have heard, asking that they will choose to accept and believe.
Answered prayers:
 IRANIAN ARABS (ee-RON-ee-un) – Praise the Father for a training event in which the Book of Hosea
was used to equip church leaders in understanding and applying the Old Testament. Give thanks to God
that everyone arrived at the training session without significant issues, the training went very well, and
the participants returned home without incident. Those who came are committed to “re-teaching” this
book to other church leaders inside the country. Pray that the message of Hosea—“God’s Mercy to a
Sinful People”--will strengthen the believers’ faith and give them the boldness to share even
in the face of persecution.

SRI LANKA - In April, a volunteer team from the United States led a Disciple’s Cycle training in Napa, one of the
districts that has been classified as “unengaged.” Praise the Lord for the awesome results that have come since this
initial training! In one village where believers were trained, they planned to gather a group of approximately 20
family members and friends to hear the Gospel one evening. As the meeting proceeded, the crowd grew until almost
the entire village had assembled. The Spirit brought conviction to the hearts of most who attended, causing them to
remove their religious charms and profess their faith in Jesus. One worker estimated that at least 200 people were in
attendance. In another village in this same district, a Muslim family came to know Jesus as their Savior as the
training details were being worked out in advance. This family is now meeting regularly for worship and prayer
along with six other families. Praise the Lord for what He has already started in Napa and in the other “unengaged”
districts! Pray that He will continue the work He has begun.
LAST FRONTIER - With grateful hearts, workers are rejoicing because so many members of a Last
Frontier people group have believed in Jesus and have returned to their homeland with good training since
last year! Remember them in prayer, asking that they will remember all their training and have the courage
to share the Good News with family members and friends. At the same time, workers are always
remembering former Last Frontier trainees who have been back home for a few years. Please make their
security and continued growth a matter of prayer. Ask that they will be intelligent and discerning in
knowing Him personally and bold to speak out.
2. North American missions

Fall is often a critical time for new church plants. Pray for God's blessing and provision for planters who are
building their core groups and for those who are going to be launching new churches this fall.
Praise God for the students who served this past summer as summer missionaries all across North America. As they
have returned to college or the marketplace, pray that they will cultivate a lifelong passion to reach people for Christ
and connect them with a church for discipleship.
Pray that God will work in and through the lives of semester missionaries who are currently serving throughout the
United States and Canada this fall.

4. Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission
The next twelve months will be a time of transition for the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission as our
president, Dr. Richard Land, has announced his retirement effective October 23, 2013.
 Please pray for Dr. Land and his family as they begin a new season of ministry.
 Please pray for the ERLC staff as the transition unfolds and adjustments are made.
 Please pray for the search committee as they seek the person God has already chosen to be Dr. Land’s
successor.
 Please pray that each one will be guided by the Spirit as individually and collectively we seek God’s will
for the future work and ministry of the ERLC.
 Please pray that we will be faithful in seeking God’s face and patient as we wait for Him to direct. To God
be the glory!
