the comprehensive one stop brochure for all Council
organised School Holiday Programmes going on
throughout the District.
Inside you will find everything that the Council has
on offer these school holidays at its LibraryPlus
centres, the Hawera Aquatic Centre, TSB Hub and the
Happening Holidays!
To book any activity, please contact the facility
running the activity directly (eg if it is swimming at the
Hawera Aquatic Centre - give them a call, or if it is a
craft at Opunake LibraryPlus, then they will take your
registration.)

AQUA FUN ZONE
Join us between 1 pm and 5 pm daily during the school holidays for fun on the
GIANT inflatable toys and the hydro-slide.

Term 2, 2016 - enrolments for established customers open Tuesday 29 March
and for new customers from Monday 18 April, call in and see us to confirm
your place for Term 2. We have classes available for children from 6 months
old onwards. Enrolments are confirmed on completion of a Customer
Enrolment Form and receipt of full payment for the term.

1.- REPTILES. Dinosaurs were rePtiles. RePtiles are a grouP of animals that includes lizards, snakes.
turtles. dinosaurs. and in some classifications. birds.
2.- NO. There were no flYing dinosaurs. Dinosaurs lived their entire lives on land. But there were a lot
of flYing rePtiles that lived at the same time the dinosaurs did. But theY were not dinosaurs.

5.- AN ASTEROID. A widelY accePted theorY is that an asteroid hit the Earth about 65 million years
ago. The imPact caused huge fires. volcanic activifY. tsunamis. severe storms with high winds•••
6.- ComPsognathus was a chicken-sized. carnivorous dinosaur from the Jurassic Period.
7.- HERBIVORES. The biggest dinosaurs were sauroPods: theY were gigantic. slow moving, tinYheaded. cow-like Plant-eaters from the late Jurassic and the Cretaceous Period. TheY had verY long
necks which were useful for reaching wide rand taiiJ swatches of vegetation. The lengthY neck was
counterbalanced by a massive tail. These sauroPods are the lan!est land animals ever discovered.
8.- MILLIONS OF YEARS AGO. The dinosaurs lived from about 230 million Years ago until theY went
extinct 65 million years ago. This was during the Mesozoic Era. the Age of RePtiles.
